    Were you able to open the file(s) in your previous 2017 version and cannot open the file(s) in the new subscription version?

    What type of error or messaging are you receiving when attempting to open the file(s)?

    Where is this file(s) located/stored?

    Did you follow the instructions provided in the image that you posted?
    AND, your image shows that you're running Q2017 ... not Q2018.

    Yes, 2004 will not open the file.

    Sometimes its just a canned error message -
    when Quicken can't read the data file information,
    and thinks it might be a really old file - like 2004 -
    BUT - it might also be that the file is corrupted - and can't be opened at all...

    What is the complete file name of the Quicken Data File, you are attempting to open? Ex: Qdata.qdf

    If we know that, maybe we can help you better.

    Usually, when you get this message, the QDF file you are trying to open is damaged in such a way that Quicken cannot read a required control record. Without it, Quicken cannot open the file.
    There is no recourse but to try and find a backup of this data file and restore it. You do have backups, don't you?
