I sold a Put option and need to know how to reflect this in Quicken and then what do I do if it expires or if it is exercised and I receive the stock?

Short sell the Put in Quicken.  If it expires Cover Short at $0 price.  If exercised you can covert short at $0 and buy the common.

You do a ShtSell action in Quicken to record the transaction.  If it expires you "buy" it back at a price of $0.  If the put option is exercised you use the exercise cash plus the cash from writing the put to buy the stock.

thanks to you both. On the short sell of the put. I used 100 shares for 1 put and the price I received for the put. now my portfolio view is using the ticker for the underlying stock and showing a large loss. How do I adjust for that?

Did you use the stock's symbol for the Put also?

I accepted the downloaded transaction which was a sell and changed it to a short sale. I expect it picked up the ticker from the downloaded transaction.

Expect I should delete that and just enter a transaction with no ticker.
