Quicken does not download all transactions from USAA

I've been battling this for weeks, and finally discovered what is going on. Ever since USAA upgraded their portal, Quicken downloads the bank balance, which includes pending debits/deposits, but does NOT download those transactions. I have to go to the bank website and see what transactions are pending, and then manually clear them in Quicken. This is not the way financial software is supposed to work. I might as well be using a spreadsheet and manually clearing everything.

Are your accounts setup for Direct Connect or Express Web Connect?
You can see this at the top of the register or in the account list (Ctrl+a).

It's not set up for Direct Connect because "Fees will apply" but it doesn't say Express Web Connect

Actually it says "Fees may apply".  And in the case of USAA their isn't any fee for using Direct Connect.

What does it say here:  (Ctrl+A to bring this window up):

Are you downloading a QFX/Web Connect file, if not it has to be either Direct Connect of Express Web Connect.

That really screwed everything up. Every transaction for the last month is "new" and I can't match manually. Good thing I have a habit of manually making backups.

The switch over will cause duplicate transactions because the unique Ids change, but once you get past that, it won't happen again.

The problem is that it won't let me delete the new transactions, I have to accept them, and then go and find them. and then delete them and then "hopefully" find all of them.

If you turn on the Status column (widen it a bit so you can see the text) you should see the New for all the new transactions.  You can sort by the Status column to group them together to make sure you get them all.

You can also put a memo in your last transactions so you know which it is before linking the account.  Then after the transactions are added, you can sort by Order entered. And the new transactions will be a the bottom.

Well, we will see if all that worked when I next try to balance my account. I'm not holding my breath.

I have read all of the USAA related download issues that I can find here.  There seems to be a wide range of issues and all seem to be related to the changes occasioned by the release of 30.12

My issue was, and continues to be even after the release of 30.20, that the download does not recognize a match for all transactions already entered and waiting to be cleared - showing them as new.  Moreover, the download includes as new transactions that have already been reconciled.

The most confusing part is that the issue is not consistent.  Some transactions are properly matched and not all reconciled transactions are downloaded as new.  It seems to be random and I cannot find any consistency in what happens from day to day.

Fortunately, when it says match, it is always correct.  I can fairly easily determine the "new" transaction status - whether it is a duplicate of a previously reconciled transaction or it is indeed a new transaction and simply delete the downloaded "new" transactions that are duplicates.

This is not how things are supposed to work.  Can I assume that USAA and Quicken are continuing to research this issue for a solution.  Before the change over USAA was one of the few financial institutions that never posed a problem.  Now it is the only one that does (at the moment).

You hit the nail on the head with this. This is exactly what Im going through after quicken and USAA removed the "AUTO" in automation. I have been qith quicken over 15 years and am thinking about ditching this app because of this. I over drawn an account a few weeks ago because my registers are not accurate now. I cant get a solid reconciliation now for almost a month.

I have lost a lot of information with the change of USAA and Quicken. Multiple problems with no apparent solutions. It has seriously impeded my tax filing. I may never recover all the information. I don't know whether to let USAA go or Quicken. Something has to change. It won't accept my credit card accounts or anything not related to USAA. Some items have not downloaded since the middle of December. When I try to add manually, it goes clear to the bottom of the register completely out of the year. I have used Quicken since 1990 and this is the worst ever.

Finally fixed the issue (I hope). I switched over to direct connect instead of web connect. I then spent 4 hours(!) cleaning up the transactions that it wouldn't match from the beginning of the year. However now both the Android app and the quicken web app (app.quicken.com) flag all my USAA accounts as 'unable to connect' even though they are showing all transactions and balances correctly. Quicken support people wanted me to de-link Quicken from the bank and to re-link adding all the accounts as new. Not going to happen. Did that in January when USAA updated their system. Between that and changing the downloading process I have spent over 16 hours battling this issue. (Sigh) I guess that I will just have to remote in to my desktop to update Quicken when I'm away from home.

The support people should know better by now.  Because of the switch over to their new security, USAA is currently blocking access from the "Quicken cloud server", which Mobile/Web are the user interfaces for.
