What do others do when Quicken has a math error?

A register with a balance of $0 had $107.43 added to it to get a balance of $107.43. Then there was $107.43 subtracted leaving a balance of $214.86. I've seen this before..... (It is a property and debt account.)

    mmm not my experience. On the account it does not show negative it just changes which column it is in Credit or Debit. If you are seeing inconsistencies it is time to go to menu File, File Operations, Validate and Repair to check and fix discrepancies in your file.

    Thank you for reaching out to the Community to tell us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.

    Could you please provide which version of Quicken you have currently running?

    As previously suggest by YingDave, I also recommend that you try to Validate your data file by following the steps below. However, I do recommend that you also Save a backup of your data file first before trying these steps (just in case).
    1. Navigate to the File menu
    2. Select File Operations
    3. Validate and Repair...
    4. Select Validate file
    5. Click OK
    6. Close the Data Log
    7. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    8. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
    You can also try to Super validate the file by holding down the Ctrl + Shift keys on your keyboard while selecting Validate and Repair... (step 3) which will give you the option to Super validate file instead of Validate file.

    The 2020 version is R31.12 Build 27.1.31.12. I've seen this before over the last couple years, and my files are HUGE because it has close to 30 years of data.

    What I have seen is if you exit the program and restart it normally correct these errors. Not always, but eventually. There is also often bad such data near the beginning of the register....

    Very frustrating because one should not need to do those things before trusting the balance in accounts.
