Sync from Quicken on the Web to newly installed Quicken Desktop (Mac)

I just bought a Quicken Deluxe subscription and set up my accounts, categories and budget using Quicken on the Web. I then installed the Desktop app and want to sync everything down from Quicken on the Web to Quicken Desktop. However, it seems like it can only sync up from Desktop to Web. It may be worth noting that in the process of trying to do this, multiple "Finances" datafiles have been created, two of which are empty and one with all the accounts, transactions, etc.

Can you provide a screenshot of the controls you used to create accounts on Quicken Web?  If the comment box doesn't have a picture icon for including a screenshot you can drag and drop an image on the comment box to attach it.

SORRY had it right the first time.
As far as I know it should be impossible for you to create an account, categories and such on Quicken Web  The Quicken Desktop data file is the "master", and there somethings like creating accounts, categories, budgets that can only be done there and then synced to the cloud account that Quicken Web/Mobile are GUIs for.

It really sounds like you have Quicken Simplifi instead of Quicken Web.
    Quicken Web's login link is:
    https://app.quicken.com/login

    And looks like:

Yep, I'm at https://app.quicken.com/login and along the top, there's the option to add accounts (see my screenshot). I did that to set up most of my accounts. I don't see that in your screenshot -- though everything else in your screenshot looks like my screen. Another way to do it is to choose Settings near the bottom of the left bar (the screwdriver and wrench icon) and choose "Accounts" and then the "+ Account" button.

WOW!  Another user posted about doing this, but when I asked about how they did it, they never posted back.

This seems to be very big "hole"/difference.  I have tried my main account which has one data file I use for testing such things, and and is synced and in the Accounts page I get:

And for a Quicken Id/Quicken data file that isn't synced:

So I have no idea why there is a difference here.  And from all I know there isn't a way to now create a data file and then connect what you have already added, because there is an unique Id that connects the data file to the cloud account/data set any yours hasn't even been generated yet since you haven't created the Quicken Desktop data file.

I'm going to flag your Question for the moderators, maybe they can get an answer to what is going on.  I even tried it on an iPad to see if it had something to do with me using MS Edge vs you using Safari, but I get the same web pages.

Thanks for giving this so much consideration. Interestingly, the Settings options I have are different than yours - even besides the ability to add an account. I attached a screenshot - I edited the screenshot to hide my specific accounts.

I bought the license and followed some prompts to go ahead and set things up in Quicken Web. Had I known this would be a problem, I would have started with the Desktop version. I guess, we'll see what comes of this. Thanks again.

Yeah this is a real mystery (at least to me!) it will be interesting what can be found out about it.  My wild guess is that they have upgraded Quicken Web to include this functionality, but so far have only rolled it out to "new users".  How all this fits into getting it synced up with the Desktop data file, I don't have a clue.  This and the other post by the other user is the first I have heard about it.

I'd love to hear back from @Frank95126 or @Quicken_Tyka once this gets further resolved, as I was also under the impression -- and had almost posted as a reply to Frank the first evening -- that creating accounts on the mobile app and then syncing them to a Quicken desktop file couldn't be done.

We periodically have users post on this forum that their computer died, and they want to know how to download from their mobile app to their new computer -- and the answer has always in the past been, "you can't."

So hopefully there's a new wrinkle here that Quicken is rolling out, and I'll be interested to learn what the full story is.

@Quicken_Tyka Can you please update us on this?  Surely it can't take that long to find out why these new users were able to create accounts, categories, and budgets on with Quicken Web without ever installing Quicken Desktop and creating a data file.
