Account Name Change

I have tried unsuccessfully to change an account name by right clicking the account and opening the account details, typing the new name and hitting "OK". (Seems so Simple, right?)
This method does not work for me it does not make the name change.
Do I need to deactivate the account to make the name change?
Or is there something else necessary to change the name on an account?

    I am sorry about this frustration with the account renaming feature. Thank you for inquiring about this here on the Quicken Community.

    The steps you are describing to rename the account appear correct, for what it's worth, and when attempting the same steps on my own, I am able to see the account change its name successfully. In this case, I recommend saving a backup by navigating to File > Copy or Backup File... in the upper menu at the top of the screen, then following the instructions listed below:
    1. Navigate to File
    2. Select Validate and Repair File...
    3. Select Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists. 

    If you are still noticing difficulties after you have attempted those recommendations, you may try the following:

    1. Navigate to File
    2. Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
    3. Select Super Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    HI Jared,
    No Luck. I tried your second suggestion, but never saw the "SUPER Validate File " option . The data file showed that the account in question was" repaired...no action necessary", but alas not able to change the account name. I tried to change another account name and it worked just as it should ,but not for account in question here.
    Any other suggestions?

    What old account name do you have?
    What do you want to change it to?
    Given that information, we might be able to reproduce the issue.
    BTW, did you recently "downgrade" your subscription from a higher feature level to a lower one? Which old to new?

    And, by any chance do you already have either an account or a category with the "new" name?

    Are you using Sync to Mobile/Web?

    It has been noted by others that they would change an account name, but as soon as they synced it would be changed back.  The workaround was to reset the Quicken Cloud dataset after changing the account name in the account details.
