Can't create a report with tags

edited October 2022 in Reports (Windows)
I have always run reports with categories down the left (rows) and tags across the top (columns). BUT...
I just found out from Quicken Support that reporting by tag is no longer a feature offered in Quicken. You can create tags, and you can tag transactions, but you can't report on them.

Can anyone suggest a workaround? Or a means of exporting the data, since even the register report doesn't include the tag.

OR... am I missing something entirely??

Thanks...

Andy

Reporting with Tags is not supported in the Starter edition of Quicken.

If you have Deluxe or higher, try going to Reports > Banking > Cash flow by Tag.

    Jim, thanks for the suggestion.

During my call with support, I specifically asked if upgrading from Starter to Deluxe would resolve the issue, they told me that it would not.

Will Deluxe allow me to use TAGs in all my reporting, as I was able to before, or only on the Cash Flow by Tag (which, I suppose, would be the answer to how I extract my data to move to another product).

Support was wrong. Tags are fully supported in Deluxe and higher.

There have been some issues recently with Tags being lost, apparently related to synching to Quicken on the Web and and the mobile apps.

Quicken Windows Starter edition has so many oddball "restrictions" that I doubt anyone really has a good handle on all of them.  And any given support person would have little training/experience in all of them.

That's really too bad. there are probably new users beginning by using Starter to get a handle on how Quicken works. It appears Quicken has invited people into trying Quicken for a little less money, then leaving them high and dry in regard to how it works. In my opinion that is a big mistake. If I were overseeing Quicken I would think that would be one of the most important things to implement.

They need a Starter specialist in support. I started my wife with it and gave up because I was not able to have the information I needed, in regards to what it could do to then teach her how to use it. There was NO information on what it could or couldn't do! I had to eat the cost of it because of the very symptoms Chris mentioned above

Creating a good solid, workable new product with information is absolutely necessary when you're trying to get new customers to try the Quicken product!

SUCCESS! Thanks Jim, while it took a phone call to support to make it happen, I upgraded to Deluxe, they extended my "subscription" for the remaining value of my Starter subscription, and YES, the "TAGs" tab is back on the report customization window.

While I had to re-create the reports that had TAGs across the columns, I'm still very happy that I got that functionality back.

    Thanks again all.

BTW I really think the handling of tags in the Starter edition is a bug.

In the past Quicken totally blocked tags as a feature. So, there wasn't any "question" on why the "partly worked".  It was just one of the features you would upgrade to get.

Somewhere around when they started using a subscription they made some changes and the tags "leaked" into the register in the Starter edition, but were still blocked in the reports, suggesting that it wasn't intentional to allow them in the register, but they never took the trouble to block them in the register again.
