We have quicken everywhere; mobile, web, mac and Windows. So when can we get a single, unified file? I mean I use all of them, yet they all (Mac & Windows) have to be managed separately.

Quicken Mac and Quicken Windows both use many low-level tools closely tied to their native operating systems — from their databases to memory management to screen display to printing architecture — and it would take a complete re-write of the program to come up with a cross-platform data file. The history of Quicken Mac provides some insight into re-writing the program from scratch: after 10+ years of work, Quicken Mac surpasses its predecessors in many ways, but still lacks some of the functionality of the legacy Quicken Mac (not to mention Quicken Windows). The likely conclusion is that re-writing both Quicken Mac and Quicken Windows from scratch to use a common file format and database seems very unlikely.

For people who want to be platform independent, Quicken created their Simplifi product, which is entirely cloud and web-based. But it's not nearly as robust in functionality as the desktop Quicken products.

In addition to that, the data in neither QMac nor QWin can be transferred into Simplifi.  So Simplifi might not be a good option for those who wish to have their older historical financials included in it.
