Why does Quicken not support international stock indexes? For example, I cannot resolve Japanese stocks on TSE.

Do you want to see quote support for international indexes like the FTSE 100 or the MCSI EAFE, or international exchanges like London, Toronto, Tokyo, etc?

The US version of Quicken supports downloading of quotes for a variety of indexes but not the FTSE or EAFE. and only US exchanges.

I suspect the answer to the "why not" question is a matter of cost

I want quote support for stocks on the Tokyo stock exchange.

Specifically, I have an investment account in Japan and I want to be able to see the stocks in it. I'm fine doing it manually, but when I create an account it won't pull down stocks that aren't US stocks.

I'm currently trying Quicken again (been on hiatus for years) and this is a huge deficit that a tool like Moneydance can easily handle without a staff of developers.

I edited the title to clarify the request.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the amount of developers, it has to do with the cost of paying for the quotes from all the different exchanges in the world that people might want for a product that is marketed to the US and Canada.

In my interpretation, “doing it manually” would not pull stock information from anywhere. What information are you looking to pull down?  Prices, p/e values, asset classes, industries?  There can be a whole slew of data, but very little is required. Indeed for me, price would be the only requirement.

I agree, that is what I was thinking, and now that I think about it, not only can you enter the prices manually you can also import a CSV file with the information in it, which might be generated from a number of sources.

I'm literally just wanting it to pull the current/last price of a stock on the tokyo exchange. I know you scrape Yahoo Finance, but I'm unaware of any API tie in than I can use to update that myself.
