BofA Savings Account Not Propeerly Added

Three of 4 bank accounts were added properly (2 credit cards and 1 checking). However, the savings account was entered as "Property & Debt" with the name "BofA Loans". On top of that, there is a long list of old transactions from a prior mortgage that it seems to have "inherited". The same thing happened to the checking account. In both cases the prior ending balance was zero so the accounts are usablel. How do I get this corrected? Move account to "Banking" from "Property & Debt" and change the name. Also, this account doesn't appear to be updating.

  • Hello @WarrenL,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about this issue.  I'm sorry to hear you're running into this problem. From what you are describing, it sounds like when you were adding or linking accounts, the accounts got linked to other accounts that were already in your Quicken. If you have transactions that downloaded into those old accounts, then the simplest solution would be to restore a backup from before you added the accounts and then add those accounts again in the restored file. When adding the accounts, it is important to review that Add/Link screen and correct it as appropriate before hitting Next.

If you are adding accounts, you want to make sure all of them are showing Add to Quicken. If it shows Link to existing, then Quicken is trying to connect the account to an existing account in your file. You would want to click the dropdown and change it to Add to Quicken. If it is showing the wrong account type, usually you will be able to hit the dropdown to correct the account type.

If nothing downloaded into those old accounts, or what did download is easy to move or delete as appropriate, then you would want to deactivate those accounts that got incorrectly linked, then add your accounts again, being careful to verify Quicken is seeing Add to Quicken and not trying to link to existing.

    Thank you.

    Quicken Kristina
