Updated some capital gains data last night and wanted to do some updates this morning and all of my data files for both Quicken and TurboTax were scrambled!

What the heck did that latest update do? Sabotage PCs???

All of the files affected have this or similar added to the file names: (# Delete conflict 2023-12-21 nltxhvC #).

Quicken: You got some explaining to do!

Reboot your computer. Restore your known good data files from backup.

Based on what was added to the filename(s), it sounds like something an anti-virus program would do.

-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
    - Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

    Actually base on this:

All of the files affected have this or similar added to the file names: (# Delete conflict 2023-12-21 nltxhvC #).

My guess would be a backup program or maybe a cloud storage program, or maybe even source control program.

"Delete conflict" sounds like "merging two files". When merging two files a change in one might conflict with a change in the other, and something has to decide what to do, in this case it might very well have decided to completely remove the "conflict/other change".

    This "source control software" talk.
