Accepting vs. reviewing downloaded transactions

Been a Quicken for Windows user for decades. Have an older credit card account that I download transactions. When new transactions arrive, a red flag appears in the account list and I go to the bottom panel of the register and click Accept.

I setup a new credit card account about a year ago. When I download transactions, a small blue dot appears next to the account in the list. When I go to the register, the downloaded transactions are already in the register with a blue dot in the left column. I click on the dot and click Reviewed.

I like having the downloaded transactions automatically entered for me to review. How do I setup my older credit card account to do the same? I can't find any option in the register or on the account details dialog.

You should be able to edit that Account, click on the "Online Services" tab of the "Account Details" window and change "Automatic entry is: Off" to "On."

Thank you for the quick reply. I didn't see that option. Was looking for a button, checkbox or radio button. 🙄

Personally, I do like reviewing credit card transactions down in the "Downloaded Transactions" window. That focus makes it easier to ensure that each transaction is legitimate and not fraudulent, (I've encountered a few fraudulent transactions over the years), and selecting them one at a time gives me the chance to make sure the Category (or Categories for a split) is/are correct as opposed to the guess as to the Category that Quicken selects. I know that I can go into the Register and do that even with automatic entry on, but it just seems easier to get distracted that way.

    To each their own!

Note that there is a global setting for this:

Edit → Preferences → Downloaded transactions → Automatically add to banking registers

This means that if you have the setting in the Account Details → Online Services tab set to "Use the general account preference that applies to all Banking accounts." selected it will follow the global setting.
