R57.16 MYSTERY INSTALL BYPASSING UAC (AGAIN)
Started Quicken and it AUTO-INSTALLED R57.16. Nothing here or on the Mondo site even mentions this update. IT BY-PASSED MY UAC LIKE THE R57.12 DID…..

I wonder whether your UAC is broken. My UAC caught this.
Are you aware of the Windows utilities DISM and SFC? You might want to run those and see whether they repair anything.
Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Biz & Personal Subscription (US) on Win10 Pro.

Broken on 2 computers???? Doubt it….. both UAC'S still set as I posted in the R57.12 THREAD….. Let's hear from Quicken….
Maybe you computer is not up to date on WINDOW'S UPDATES and Windows's changed something about UAC that Q needs to address….

Well it's odd that the computer that auto-installed R57.12 the other day prompted this time for R57.16 and the second computer that prompted about R57.12 the other day auto-installed R57.16 today. BOTH UAC'S STILL SET.

I don't know what to tell you, other than I have never had the problem. I do know others have complained about it, but there was never any real solution found as far as I know.
Of course, the real solution is one that Quicken Inc refuses to do, and that is to prompt the user themselves before doing the install.
There are certain things like this that they just won't budge on.

I'm with you in all my years of having UAC set this is the first time(s) UAC has been bypassed, and on 2 computers now and only with Quicken updates. All of my other apps and software on both computers haven't bypassed UAC ??( and 3 of my other apps on both computers have prompted me over the past couple days and didn't auto-install ).
UAC is almost a necessity with Quicken in my opinion.

The Release Notes in Q HELP show R57.16 as a Hot Fix. This is what it should fix…

My UAC has been functioning well, too. Quicken version updates never simply blow past it.

My UAC functions well on 2 computers too except with Quicken….. update your Quicken from R55.26 and see how it goes….
