I am also receiving the same error — my Userid got suspended on 8/4 due to multiple Quicken attempts to connect and download transactions. NW Technical Support was able to activate it on 8/5. Hopefully, NW Mutual will get this fixed very soon.

Thanks, Randall. I'm experiencing the same issue as well, and I hope NW fixes it soon.

    Hello All,

We will be forwarding this issue to the proper channels to have this further investigated. However, we request that you please navigate to Help > Report a problem within your Quicken program and submit a problem report with log files and screenshots attached in order to contribute to the investigation. It would also aid the investigation to include a sanitized file when submitting the problem report. A sanitized file is a data file that removes personally identifiable information so you can comfortably share this file with the Quicken team.

While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue. The more problem reports we receive, the better.

We apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime! Thank you.

Spoke again with NMIS today and they know it is a problem but still have been unable to put in a fix. Apparently they recently migrated to Pershing's software for their investment services. If you go into the NM website to check investments you'll see that it is Pershing who handles it. The FAQs say to use Pershing Investments with Quicken. Unfortunately the NM account numbers are different, so you can't just use Pershing directly from Quicken. Stupid square peg and round hole!

I have been receiving the OL-292-B error with Northwestern Mutual since July 1st. The Northwestern Mutual tech representative said the problem is on the Quicken end.

    On the Quicken side "

Hopefully Quicken will solve the issue soon

i am still having issues - though my error message is now and has been the last few days:

    Please try again later.

    OFX Error: 2005

    Details:
Your Introducing Broker Dealer is not setup to support this service. Please contact your Investment Professional for more information.

    Any updates from anyone?

The MAIN reason I went with Quicken Classic Premier was to get investment data downloaded. I am starting to second guess my choice. Does anyone have the NMIS phone number? The company seems impenetrable right now.

Here's the contact info from NWM's "Contact" page:

Phone: (414) 661-9631 or (866) 950-4644, indicate "Online Assistance" at the prompt
Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 8:00 pm, CT and Saturday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm, CT

They have been doing maintenance until 2:00 PM CT. Maybe a fix will get installed.

Just tried to update and received the following message:

Looks like it will be a while.

I was informed that it is also a customer issue with HRBLOCK and Intuit/TurboTax. If that is true, it should help create additional attention on it. If an issue with direct connect security (a previous suggestion), NMIS could consider offering .qfx (or even qif?) download files that we retrieve from the NWML site (and skip direct connect). It's more awkward, but would be better than nothing.

Spoke to NMIS this morning. They acknowledge that the problem is theirs and state they are working on it. They created a problem ticket foor me and said they will notify me when the issue is fixed. Thinking about moving to another broker.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a callback. I heard the same thing 3 weeks ago. I suspect with NWMs migration to Pershing software, the cost of negotiating a new interface with Intuit may be more than they are willing to spend. Remember, they are at heart an insurance company and they play the odds, and are betting that they won't lose enough business to make it worth it.

Northwestern Mutual’s Head of Wealth Management, regarding the connection between NMIS and Quicken:

" This issue is now identified and I can tell you that a solution is being worked on. Northwestern Mutual absolutely intends to restore the connection once certain standards are achieved."

Of course, they may not make it but appears they are committed at the top which gives me some comfort.

    Hello Everyone,

I logged on to Northwestern Mutual's website and got the following message:

Doesn't really help when you have lots of transactions you're waiting to download/post, but at least they're admitting there is a problem.

    From my advisor today:

Below is the formal explanation from Northwestern Mutual that we were provided to share with you:

We regret the inconvenience and frustration the unavailable connection to Quicken is causing you. I would like to provide additional context pertaining to this issue's root cause and plans to resolve it.

As a courtesy, Northwestern Mutual permits certain third-party websites and apps that you have authorized to connect to your accounts.

Recently, we identified that the level of security of the online connection used to connect Northwestern Mutual with Quicken does not meet our current expectations.

Because the security and protection of your data is our top priority, we took proactive steps to disable the connection with this product. This means that you will experience a disruption in the links between their websites/ applications and your Northwestern Mutual accounts.

Importantly, this step was taken to protect your data.

We regret the inconvenience you may be experiencing while this connection is unavailable. We understand that clients use these products for a variety of purposes, and our teams are working diligently to re-establish the connection with this product.

However, a specific timeframe is not available, as Northwestern Mutual needs to work with all external parties to ensure the connection is re-established in a way that meets our expectations.

In the meantime, your account values and other information remain available by logging into the Northwestern Mutual client portal on NM.com or using the NM mobile app.

I unfortunately do not have any additional information to share at this time, but I am committed to keeping you informed when I learn more if you’d like to check back later.

In a nutshell, Northwestern claims this is Quicken's issue. Like some others above, I've been told I will hear back when it's resolved. It's been months, now. I'm hoping Quicken can get this cleared up, soon. In the meantime, I'll do as the moderator requested and submit a report through the Quicken software.

    To Quicken Support:

Northwestern Mutual states that the outage between both of you is due to inadequate security for the data connection on your side. This outage has lasted 6 weeks so far with no end in sight, which is unacceptable given we, your customers are paying a subscription fee. Please provide an update as to if/when this "security exposure" will be resolved and connectivity will be resumed. Thank you!

With all due respect, this is not just Quicken's problem. The same outage prevails between Northwestern and a bunch of other aggregators.

As of just a few moments ago, logging into Northwestern's site and selecting the Investments link, one sees the following banner:

OUTAGE: Connections with Intuit/TurboTax, H&R Block and Quicken’s software are currently unavailable. Learn More.

Click on the "learn more" link and you'll see this:

We are aware that website connections with Intuit/TurboTax, H&R Block and Quicken’s software are currently unavailable. We are working in partnership with these providers on re-establishing these connections and do not yet have an estimated time for when they will be restored. We do not have additional information to share at this time, but we encourage you to check back here for future updates.

In the meantime, you can access investment position and account values, along with other helpful information, on this page or by selecting “Documents” on the right-side navigation panel.

Everything was working swimmingly, so the lack of communication between platforms is Northwestern's choice. It appears that Quicken was blindsided, along with the other services, and all parties will need to work in concert to restore the service we all so richly deserve.

P.S. As a career software technician, I can tell you that this is not necessarily an easy fix. Each aggregation platform is unique, requiring its own connection protocol. Bottom line for us users is patience and manual entry of the data until the connections are restored.

Alan is setting up the old download a qif ?? file and import not feasible as a temp vs manual entry. I would think all the NWML then needs is to take their people and contract a data file dump in a qif? that they made and we then download. No Quicken or other platforms involved from a security standpoint ??

That would be a great solution but it seems NM is not interested in providing a download service to its customers. Many other financial organizations have figured out how to work with Quicken. Going to speak with my NM advisor tomorrow and state my displeasure. I have no problem with my Fidelity account. Anyone have experience with Schwab, Fisher, or ????

Received this today from my NM rep.

I hope you had a great week! I wanted to check in and let you know we were notified that our home office has identified a path forward to re-establish the link with Quicken. They have given a timeframe of by the end of October, but I will continue to pass along updates as I get them.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience.
