I was here to share the latest news. I see others did so first and I thank them.

Been using Quicken since the 90's but pointless now since my retirement accounts are held at NMIS. Cancelled my Quicken subscription but it's not prorated so will have it until it expires.

Here is the NWM update I saw this morning:

"OUTAGE UPDATE: Connections with Intuit/TurboTax, H&R Block and Quicken’s software are currently unavailable, but tentative timing for resolving this issue has been identified. "

"We are aware that website connections with Intuit/TurboTax, H&R Block and Quicken’s software are currently unavailable. We are working in partnership with these providers on re-establishing these connections and expect they will be restored by the end of October. Please look back here mid-October for an additional update.

In the meantime, you can access investment position and account values, along with other helpful information, on this page or by selecting “Documents” on the right-side navigation panel."

    Any updates on this?

    Has this been fixed?

    Thanks.

I got a message this morning that the NWM website will be down for an update from 4AM to 11PM this Saturday. No indication that the update is related to this issue, but fingers crossed that it addresses this…

Has anyone been able to reconnect to NWM?

Still waiting for Northwestern Mutual and Quicken to announce a resolution to this problem. NWM's website says endo of October.

No, their website says that they expect connection to be available by the end of October. However, they also said that they would post an update in the middle of October and no update has as yet been forthcoming.

My advisor emailed me late yesterday and said that word from the home office is that this is on track to be fixed by next week.

just in case someone that cares is counting, I still watching this thread regularly looking for an update on this frustrating situation.

I hope they get it right the first time. I know Quicken does random backups but I am also going old school. Before I re-activate the NWML/NMIS download again, I am making my own manual backup of my Quicken .qdf file. Gives me a chance to quickly get back to the previous working qdf file if it turns out to be a rabbit hole.

It started working for my accounts today. I'm using Quicken on macOS. The setup is a little more involved now, but it is working for me now. This is what I had to do:

    1. Tried linking my account in the normal way, entering logon ID and password.
    2. I was prompted that I need to register my device at the nm.com site. It provided me with the URL.
    3. Logon to the nm.com site and authorize the device. You have to click the check mark next to the device that attempted to connect. The authorization is good for one year.
    4. Go back into Quicken and tried to link the account again. This time, it went through, and I was able to link my accounts.

This might be a slow rollout so your account(s) may not be working yet. The nm.com site mentions that all accounts are expected to be working by late October or early November. Works now for me, but YMMV.

    Thanks to Richard.

I got it to work this morning in Windows. Go to your NMIS web page, click on Settings, then Profile, and you should see Device Registrations. Click on the green checkmark next to Quicken.

I have four accounts. When I went to accept the downloaded transactions of the first account, my Quicken crashed. But when I reopened it, the transactions downloaded properly. The next three accounts downloaded without incident. Everything looks okay after a quick check, but I'll do a closer look later.

Thanks for the heads up guys, got mine working this morning, too. It took a couple of logins/logouts at NMIS website before I saw the device registration in my profile. Once I approved that the download to Quicken worked for all three accounts we have. I had been manually entering transactions since July and when the download hit I had a mix of "Match" and "Near Match" transactions along with new ones. I just accepted them all.

Finally! I just downloaded all my transactions from the past 3 months. Thank you for the heads up Rich.

    Yeah, working again.

I had couple hundred transactions downloaded (I am a new client and it downloaded all the beginning securities transferred from the other firm and all the new purchases at NMIS. At that moment I had a very bad word forming in my mouth. Whenever that would happen in the old days (i.e. when you tell Quicken to use "an existing account"), you would end up with manually identifying and delete the duplicates !!! NOT THIS TIME. Not sure but think Quicken told the download that any match already reconciled R transactions were then skipped and no need to "accept" all those proposed "matches". BIG thanks for that … got down to just a dozen to actually be careful with. Very pleased.

It is STILL not working for me. ERRR!!!

I authorized both of my NWM logins on their website for Quicken, but I'm still getting error messages when it tries to download either one.

I've tried everything I can think of….including restarting Quicken, resetting the account, deactivating and trying to reactive an individual account, using the PLUS button to add a new account, waiting 24 hours and trying again….but I keep getting this error message.

I'm on the phone with them now….but not getting warm and fuzzies that this is going to be fruitful. Sigh….

Check on NMIS website where you activate Quicken downloads. Does it say active until this date 2025. If not, you didn't click on the check mark to actually activate.

  • shepali
shepali Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭

yes. Both user IDs have that indicated with a check mark on the NWM website.

  • irasend1

Sign into the NMIS website, click on Settings/profile. If you can still see the check mark, it is not activated.

Once it is activated, you should see:

If you are not seeing this, left click on the check marks. That is what will activate the link

OMG!!! You are the BEST!!! I assumed the dates and the check mark meant I was good to go. I did what you said, and its working now. Yippee!!! Thanks so much.

Now I hope all the downloads make sense and reconcile…..

Thanks for the tips in this thread. Working for me. Now just need to reconcile the transactions over the last three months…

Not at all intuitive that you need to click the check mark in the profile to make it "disappear". I would think that a check mark signifies that it is active…
