Investment Income Reminder - Estimate amount doesn't work
I have several mutual funds that pay dividends quarterly, with a much larger amount in December. I would like to set up Income Reminders that estimate the amount based on Time of Year, so that the Tax Planner's projections will be more accurate.
This works for other types of income, expenses, and transfers, but for investment income, when I set the amount to Time of year, I always get the message shown below.
I get a similar message if I try to estimate based on previous payments.
The Security name for the payment I am trying to set up is identical to the name used in previous Div transactions and I get this message even if the year-ago date is identical.
Does anyone have an explanation or workaround for this?

You may have stumbled on the cause for Income Reminders not being picked up when the income is downloaded. For some reason the query used in Quicken is not matching the security name in a transaction with the security name in the reminder.
That would be useful if it functioned. I use an annual reminder for each quarter, but your method might be more convenient for a fund not traded often.

I don't have a problem matching Dividend Reminders to downloaded dividend transactions, but it is clumsy and I find that the dates and amounts must match exactly.
The process I use is to wait to accept the Reminder until the dividend downloads, then before accepting either I hit Enter for the Reminder and edit the values to match the downloaded date and amount and then accept the reminder. This puts a Div for the security in the Transaction List and a Match next to the downloaded transaction. I can then accept the download.

My wild guess would be that the "Time of year" search only looks in non-investment accounts.

@Chris_QPW That's not it, if I make a Reminder for a withdrawal from an investing account, it has no trouble finding the year-ago amount.

Your comment about a withdrawal reminder working makes me wonder if the issue is that the match/lookback query is looking for the hidden underlying name for the div/interest reminder. When setting up these specialized reminders, I commonly start with a name for the reminder that may not be a good match because after selecting the security in the drop down, it replaces the original reminder name.
I wonder if you copied the security name used by the reminder, then deleted it and recreated it with an initial name that is the exact security name copied from the old reminder if it would find it then?
The div/int reminders are a special case and may have some under the hood code to display the reminder name but not really replace the one originally used. The initial reminder name may be stored in the table like a normal reminder and that might be the value used in the match/lookback queries.

Good guess, but I just tried that and it didn't help.

Note that it doesn't work if the year-ago transaction is entered manually, either. For some reason the security name in the Reminder does not match to the identical security name in the earlier transaction.

That is something I found out the first time I tried to use this feature. It seems like they store something in the database when you enter a reminder in the register that they are searching for, they definitely don't do a search of all the transactions.
Personally, I gave up on trying to use this feature years ago.

@Chris_QPW For other types of transactions it is definitely looking in the Transaction list or register for previous instances of the same Payee. I have been experimenting with matching new Reminders to existing and newly added year-old transactions for the same Payee. It works as expected for Banking registers and for deposits and withdrawals in investing accounts.
It would be very useful if it would match to previous Div transactions in investing accounts, but alas it does not.

Well, I haven't tested this in many years, so I can certainly be wrong about how is now working.
