Finding old stock records

I used to have stock in a company that I sold some years ago. Now on Quicken for Windows on PC I'm trying to find those records with no luck.
How can I extend the search to accounts earlier than sometime in 2020? (Looking for records from back in 2017-2018).

Hello @breace2,
Thanks for reaching out!
If those stock records were recorded in Quicken, they should still be accessible unless they were manually deleted or archived. Here are a few things you can try:
- Check Hidden Accounts – Go to Tools > Account List, and make sure all accounts are visible. If any are hidden, click Show Hidden Accounts.
- Expand Your Date Range – In the Investing tab or Reports, adjust the date filter to include 2017-2018.
- Use the Transaction Search – Press Ctrl + F to open the Find feature and search for the stock name or ticker.
- Restore a Backup – If you have an older backup from that time, you can restore it to check past records (File > Restore from Backup).
If the records are still missing, let us know more details about how they were originally entered, and we’ll do our best to help!

Thanks for the help, but….
I tried several things based on your suggestions, without success.
#1 - Hidden Accounts — I don't find that option when I go to Tools>Acct List. I have seen that option on other screens but not on that one. Anyway, it should not be hidden as I had that stock on an account that is still active.
2. Didn't find a way to expand the dates. All screens seem to be limited to only go back to 2020, even when I find some Report that I want to check (like Investments). I found some cases where I could change the date within a report but it still only looked back to 2020…
I'm guessing the ability is probably there but not easy to find…

QWin reports have a lot of flexibility in search and reporting capability. You did not say which report you are using.
You might want to try using the Investment Transactions report to find what you are looking for. Whichever report you are using:
- Open the report.
- At the top right of the report click on the Gear icon which will open the Customize popup.
- Click on the Date Range field which will open the drop-down menu. Do not select Yearly because you will get only the last 5 yrs for options. Instead, select Earliest To Date, Custom To Date or Custom Dates. (I would probably select Earliest To Date so I don't need to select any specific dates. With Custom To Date and Custom To Date you will need to define the dates to use on the top right of that popup.)
- ACCOUNTS TAB: Make sure the appropriate Account is selected. If you do not recall which one it is, click the Select All button. If you do not see the account listed, check the box for Show Separate Accounts.
- CATEGORIES TAB: Check the box for Show Hidden Categories and the click on the Select All tab.
- SECURITIES TAB: Check the box for Show Hidden Securities and then click on the Select All tab….do not assume that all securities are already selected, make to to click on Select All. (Alternately, if you know exactly which security it is that you are looking for, click on Clear All and then scroll down the list and check the box for that specific security.)
- ACTIONS TAB: If all are not already selected, click on Select All.
- SECURITY TYPES TAB: If all are not already selected, click on Select All.
- INVESTING GOALS TAB: If all are not already selected, click on Select All.
- Click on OK to save the customizing that you did.
- At the top of the report you will have some sorting options to review and select. I would suggest Sub-Total By: Security and then select Sort By: Account/Security.
Your report should now include the security you are looking for. If there is too much data in the report, play around with the Customization, the Sub-Total selection and/or the Sort By selection.
Did this provide you with the information you are looking for?

It sounds to me as if you started a 'new' file in 2020. Do you have a backup or 'archive' file that would have those old transactions?
