Also experiencing this issue. Last budget reports ran 2/5/2025 were fine .. as of 3/4/2025 now seeing the Everything Else category randomly included with what appear to be subtotals of some lines above. Bookmarked Community ticket # below to follow for resolution.

Just to add to the list…..I am having the same problem. It seems to have just appeared with the latest update.

I have the same issue. The issue is this new category "Everything else" shows up in the reports with some "random" value for budget and in my case I do get some "actuals" as well. I cannot click on it to see what records its pulling from. This started in Feb. Please fix the issue.

This problem with the Everything Else budget category is still driving me nuts. Is there any fix? Has anyone been able to speak to

anyone at Quicken?

I have this same issue and have found a temporary fix to remove it. I noticed that "Everything Else" is appearing in categories where I have some but not all categories selected for budgeting under the Planning tab. To apply a temporary fix:

1)In the Planning tab, there is an option to "Select Categories to Budget". Select that option.

2) If on the Actual vs Budget report "Everything Else" is a sub-category of a higher level category, make sure all sub-categories including "Other" are checked for budgeting (even if you don't plan on entering any amount).

3) If "Everything Else" on the Actual vs Budget report is its own category and not a sub-category, select the category immediately preceding "Everything Else" and make sure all sub-categories are checked for budgeting for that category.

This has worked for me in all cases. It's only downside is that when creating / updating a budget there are categories displayed that you may not use. A nuisance to scroll through but the fix seems to work for me.

Bill West - yes, that is basically how it is designed, but the everything else people are complaining about is NOT that scenario, it is where it randomly/phantomlike appears on the budget report unrelated to the designed use of everything else as you described.

Quicken - last official update is March 13th, any newer updates? this has been going on since at least late jan/early feb. It really is a big deal for us that rely on quicken for our budgets and seems to have been introduced via an update.

just received update (R62.16). Unfortunately, the everything else fix was not included/fixed.

Everything Else

I checked my report, just trying to see
If the numbers this month made some sense to me.
But lurking below in the budgeted rows—
An “Everything Else” that nobody knows.

Not once, but twice, then three times it came,
Each copy the same, yet not quite the same.
Amounts that don’t match, expenses askew,
Did I buy a small boat? Adopt a whole zoo?

I combed through the lines, I clicked and I tapped,
I toggled each view, I plotted, I mapped.
But the glitch just laughed, a mischievous sprite,
Hiding my budget in broad daylight.

Support sends a note: “We’re aware! It’s a thing!
There’s no need to call or message or ping.
Our team is on it, no timeline to share,
Just keep checking back—we might soon care.”

So now I sit staring, confused and perturbed,
By phantom expenses I've never incurred.
I budget with care, I tally with pride—
But “Everything Else” is along for the ride.

Any update on this? No ability to rollback a portion of the update that caused this issue? I think we've been pretty patient.

When printing a current budget report for my Church Council, the category "everything else" is showing an income and expense even though there wasn't anything budgeted. Can this be deleted from the budget categories? I have brought up all the categories in my budget and this isn't among the listing! I have never had this issue before.

I have same issue, annoying in Budgeted v Actual. Doesn't seem to impact totals but sure wrecks reports. I did switch in Advanced tab to Budgeted Only and seems to have helped but that isn't a permanent solution

I figured something else out that hopefully will lead to a solution. These mysterious budget categories (Everything Else) appear on a budget report and are only in the "Budget" column. There are only zeros in the "Actual column" They also do not add to the overall budget. Here is something that I observed. I have several budget categories that are standalone. For example, "Groceries". I have other categories that are grouped. For example, Taxes: SS, Taxes: local.

In my budget report, "Everything Else" is inserted after every standalone category. It is a summation of every amount above it up to the last standalone category in my budget report. While this is a meaningless subtotal and certainly annoying, it does not affect my overall budget and I have to just ignore it. It should definitely be fixed. I hope this at least explains something to help you understand where the numbers are coming from.

One correction to my last post above. The Everything Else budget amount is a summation of everything above the last standalone category in the report plus the last grouped category above the standalone category. Transfers act as standalone categories in my case.

It is fair to ask yourself how this ever even became a thing. Some programmer screwed this up royally.

For example. (> represents a grouped category) The amounts are the budgeted amounts.

>Auto $1000
>Clothing $500
>Home $1000
Groceries $1000
EVERYTHING ELSE - $2000 (summation of Groceries and >Home)
>Taxes $2000
>Utilities $1000
To Loan - $750
To 401 - $500
To Brokerage - $250
EVERYTHING ELSE - $2,500 (summation of Brokerage, 401, Loan and Utilities)

TB63,

Royally, yes.

A budget report is kinda at the core of what Quicken does… As a programmer, I would check (and double-check) to make sure it's working before pushing it out to live/production users. AND, if I later discovered I made a mistake to this core function of my program I would fix it quickly. So embarrassing. So sloppy. So sad.

TB 63, I think you might have invested more time into this bug than any one person at Quicken. Thanks for your participation.

Will Quicken be fixing this. This is unbelievable to have bogus "Everything else" in the quicken reports with seemingly random numbers. I did call Quicken - they said they are aware of this but still no fix. How are people dealing with this issue ?

• Dom1
Dom1 Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭✭

It's annoying it hasn't been fixed. I can still use the budget report with the present issues (ignoring the misrepresentations) but it's not optimum and forget about trying to export this data. In the last x months I believe I received two surveys related to the budgeting/reporting functionality so I don't know if there is a big change coming or not and if that has anything to do with the delay. I'm not trying to provide cover here.

Anyway, the absence of any real update makes me wonder.

Do they really care?
Is the support team large enough to address issues or are they overly taxed?
Are they focused on more pressing issues?
Is this a reporting issue or is it something data structure related that is not easily remedied?

etc…
