Download Transactions From Bank - Quicken Does Not Start - Win 11 Pro
I just moved to a new PC. I am running Quicken Premier on a Win 11 Pro PC. On my previous PC (Win 10 Home) when I downloaded my transactions file from my credit union Quicken would start automatically.

@stebbinsgr there could be several reasons why your Quicken data file doesn't open automatically. Here are some things to try -
- Ensure that your data file doesn't have a space before the ".QDF"
- Uninstall and reinstall the Quicken program.
- Make sure you have installed the latest release - R62.16.
- Temporarily disable the firewall. If it works then add the "qw.exe" as an exception to the firewall. You shouldn't need to do this for Quicken, but it's still worth a try.

Hello @stebbinsgr,
We appreciate you taking the time to bring this issue to our attention!
To help us better understand what’s happening, could you clarify a few details?
- Are you referring to a .QFX file downloaded from your financial institution’s website? If so, what is the name of the credit union in question?
- Are you saving the file and then opening it manually, or choosing to open it directly from your browser?
- When you say "Quicken does not start," do you mean nothing happens at all when double-clicking the downloaded file? Or does Quicken open but fail to import the transactions?
- Did you transfer your Quicken data file from your old PC to the new one, or are you working with a new data file?
- Lastly, is this issue specific to your credit union file, or have you experienced the same behavior with files from other financial institutions?
Looking forward to your response so we can assist further!

I have no experience at all with Web Connect downloading and, frankly, didn't think that simply downloading a Web Connect file would somehow start the Quicken program.
Maybe it has something to do with "file association?"
This FAQ:
indicates that the file association process is different between the two Windows versions.
You might want to make this a Question instead of a Discussion as it probably would give greater visibility to your problem.

@Tom Young if Quicken is not open and running and you click on a QFX file, it does automatically open Quicken to upload the QFX file. I think you are right though, it has something to do with file association. That is why I think reinstalling Quicken might solve the issue.
