After years of no issues with PNC using DC, I have experienced the same OL-297 error that others have mentioned daily this week. Each instance did clear with one or two Update now triggers, until today. I attempted at least three Update now without success. I rebooted the PC and ran Update now again without success. Undeterred 😅, I ran a second or possible third Update now and finally had a successful update.

Clearly something is going on with PNC bank.

Thanks for chiming in and sharing your experience, @GeoffG!

It definitely helps to hear that repeated attempts have eventually worked for you—though understandably, that’s not ideal behavior. While OL-297 errors typically point to a connection issue between Quicken and the financial institution, if it's happening across multiple users consistently (especially with PNC), then there may be something going on on the bank's end.

For now, should the error return for you, we still recommend following the steps in the OL-297 troubleshooting article linked in my prior response if you haven’t already. If the issue continues or worsens, we recommend reaching out to PNC directly. As noted in the article:
If the issue is not resolved after following the steps, you will need to contact your financial institution to resolve the problem. Quicken does not have access to the financial institution's servers to correct this issue.
When contacting them, it may help to ask for a representative who specializes in online banking services or transaction download issues. If they’re unsure how to assist, you can request that they escalate the issue internally.

Appreciate your persistence and the helpful update!

I, too, have gotten OL-297-A error codes with PNC DC the last 2 days. For me, I got the error codes when I did OSU before 8 a.m. which I assumed was because they were perhaps doing some sort of maintenance.

I waited until after 8 a.m. to then do Update Now (not OSU) and my PNC accounts then updated properly with no error codes encountered.

Running OSU, again, in the evening (6-7 pm) also completed properly with no error codes.

I just now did Update Now, again. The first time I got the OL-297-A error code so I immediate did Update Now, again, and it completed normally.

So something is occurring intermittently. If it continues into tomorrow I will call PNC tech support to discuss it with them.

I had the same issue. My PNC account was set for Direct Connect. I switched to EWC+ and everything works fine now. PNC never offered any support.

When calling a financial institution for support on Quicken, always ask to speak with a person in tech support or, more specifically, someone on their tech team who might be familiar with downloading transactions data. I've found that PNC Customer Service sometimes can be very helpful with downloading or connection issues but usually they know nothing about that. Their tech support team has always been very helpful.

I received the OL-297-A error code during OSU, again, about an hour ago.

Once OSU had completed running I immediately then tried Update Now for PNC (Account Register > upper right Gear icon > Update Now) and all of my PNC accounts were updated with expected new transactions downloaded.

I did not try calling PNC for tech support on this issue since Update Now generally has worked quite well when OSU has not.

I was told numerous times someone from PNC tech support would call me back. They never did.

They say that just to get you off the line. I don't let them do that and insist (nicely) that I will wait until tech support is available. It usually is not too long then before I get to speak with someone in tech support.

There have been a couple of times where the front line Customer Service people try to brush me off. In those cases I asked (nicely) to speak with their supervisor. Attitudes changed really fast then.

Update Now still works well most of the time when OSU fails with OL-297-A. Sometimes I need to run Update Now 2-3 times but for me it usually works the first time.
