What happened to my Investment Registers?

Quicken did an update 16 July 2025, and suddenly when I click on my IRA accounts, I no longer see a register, just a dashboard. I searched the database and found this question in 2022, and the answer was "The solution to this is to go into Edit > Preferences > Investment Transactions and uncheck the Enable Simple Investing (Positions Only) option." That is not an issue with the current update.

How do I restore my investment registers? I need to account for transactions I just made and have worked my way through the Preferences to no solution. Thanks.

  • @OmniDIYer for each of the affected investment accounts, go to the General tab in Account Details and switch the Tracking Method to "Complete…"

Two weeks ago, I had DECADES of transactions in register form.

Last week, all of that disappeared—and this is the explanation? With no warning?

And I would have to recreate this MANUALLY?

    Is this a joke?

OR, you can leave Vanguard, which is imposing this onerous rule, and switch to an investment firm that supports Quicken better.

BTW, "Simple Investing' is NOT a requirement of EWC … Vanguard, who is sending you that message, is lying.

Quicken is merely passing along the message from Vanguard. And yes, that "manual" message is ridiculous.

@OmniDIYer please take a look at this thread. It contains some instructions and steps compiled by @Jim_Harman to switch to Direct Connect and restore Complete Tracking for Vanguard accounts.

CaliQkn Thank you SO MUCH for this link. I did search the Community and nothing came up, which is why I posted this question. It's been a tough year with a bunch of health stuff—it's been all I can do to get the bills paid on time. ;) I really appreciate your assistance with this problem.

  • @OmniDIYer you are welcome. Sometimes it isn't easy to find relevant posts using the search function and it depends on what search words you use. Hopefully you will be able to get your accounts back to the way they were but if you run into any issues or have questions, please circle back.
