Why is my Quicken Classic Premier hanging up during One Step Update? [Edited]

This problem started about a week ago. I have changed nothing — the problem just started without changes on my end. USAA is my bank. I have tried reestablishing connections through Xpress Web Connect. I have tried validating my data. What could have driven this situation on Quicken's end? What is the fix? How do we keep this from happening again? Why haven't I heard back from the problem files I have sent through the Quicken Help pulldown?

    Hello @mnkoster,

Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this issue. To clarify, is this happening when you're trying to add/reconnect your USAA accounts? At what point in the process is it getting stuck? Does it complete on its own, or do you have to close Quicken in order to unfreeze it? Does this problem happen only when trying add/reconnect/update USAA accounts, or does it happen any time you run One Step Update?

You mentioned it's been going on for about a week. Was there anything else that happened around the same timeframe, such as a program/computer update or an unexpected program/computer shutdown?

I look forward to your reply!

It looks like several others are experiencing this same issue. No — no updates or other changes. No — no communications from USAA or Quicken. Both of you are on thin ice, and I've been with USAA for nearly 5 decades. Quicken for maybe 2 decades. Somebody out there needs to share what you've been doing. Enough about the questions to us. Has Quicken or USAA made changes in the last two weeks?

I have had to close Quicken through Cntrl-Alt-Delete, as it hangs for hours and locks up all action on the computer.

I am experiencing the same problem where Quicken Classic is 'hung-up' during the account update process. No error messages. Only way out is to CTL-ALT_DEL and end the Quicken Task. Please provide an update on this issue.

I had been having this problem from early 2025-05 and it was ongoing for many weeks sometime between 2025-07-15 and 2025-07-25 it fixed itself. I did nothing on my end differently. There were no software updates in that time.

    Hello @FarrelBuch,

Thank you for sharing your experience. Based on what you describe, the issue may have been caused by interference from another program. For example, if your Quicken file is synced with a cloud service, such as OneDrive, then the hang/freeze may have been caused by that cloud service trying to access the Quicken file while One Step Update was running.

    Thank you!

Mine was hanging up too, but the R63.21 release seemed to have fixed my issues.
