Quicken very slow to open and update - almost unusable!
This started pretty recently - Quicken Classic Premier (Win 11). It takes over a minute to open the file and display the account list. This used to take maybe 5+ seconds. Updating account takes nearly a minute to start the update, then it is very, very slow. Have been using Quicken for 20+ years almost daily, so am very familiar with it's behavior.
I have done a validate/repair and super validate on my file (which is not shared or subject to onedrive). I have completely uninstalled and re-installed Quicken. Only thing I can think of that is different is the sync method of my Fidelity files was changed (not by me), and now in the update window the account names now have a prefix of "zzz - " and a "- DC" after. They do sync fine, just all really slow!
Really almost unusable now. Starting to look for an alternative.

Update - looks like this was somehow related to a DNS change. My wired connection was set to 1.1.1.1, not auto. I switched to my wifi, which had auto DNS, and things seemed to work as before. I switched my wired to Auto DNS and it is working again with that as well. Very weird, as all my other internet connections were working just fine, and fast.

Hello @marcf,
Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm glad to hear that you were able to track down the issue. Based on your description of the solution, it sounds like the issue may have been caused by an outdated entry in the DNS (Domain Name System), that was corrected when you switched it to auto.
Thank you!

This fix from another Quicken user and it worked for me…previous load time was 1 minute 20 seconds and after this fix it was 17 seconds. My data file size is 1.21 GB. This fix changed no applications, docs, settings or files. Windows appeared exactly as it was before.

I was having a similar issue and tried all of the suggestions that Jasmine offered. Finally, thinking maybe network drivers or other config files in Win 11 were possibly corrupted, I did a….

One caveat to my above post…this method did empty my password vault. I had to reconnect all my accounts to the online banks, etc.

If anyone wants to determine if a long start up delay is being caused by a problem with their network if they disable their network connection and the start Quicken. If it now starts fast, then there is a some problem with your network.
This will at least let you know where to start looking.

I started having the same problem a few weeks after the last update. If I disable the network, the load is fast. DNS on Auto. Rebooted the router. Disabled firewall & antivirus SW. Uninstalled/reinstalled the app a few times.
