New Online Bills System Issues

Oh boy! Three of my most important online bills are apparently unsupported by Quicken's new partner as they cannot be found when searched… [Removed - Sarcasm]

How do I request that they be added to your new system asap?

[Removed - Speculation/Inaccurate] Only one of my billers was listed in the search for online billing participants (Spectrum). After updating it yesterday, it showed as "pending". Today, I checked on the status, and it shows "failed". Please report this to whoever can fix it.

Your best bet for reporting problems like this to "get them on the list" is by contacting Quicken Support.

Is anyone having difficulties adding back online billers they once had prior to the latest update (R64.19)?

  • thorn5
thorn5 Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭✭✭

I did. The problem is as follows…

Only one of my six online billers (Spectrum) remained after the R64.19 update. After following the instructions to add back Spectrum online billing, it failed. R64.19 is certainly not ready for prime time, in my opinion.

Is anyone else having trouble adding Spectrum as an ONLINE biller?

I have not yet been offered the 64.19 update. SO having a slow Saturday, "Checked for Updates". Tells me my 63.xx is current!? So i cannot even download it. Odd, no?

    Hello @Bob.,

Thank you for sharing your experience! R64.19 is currently in staged release, which is why some people are prompted to update, while others are still being told that R63 is current.

If you want to upgrade to R64.19 before being prompted to do so, then backup your Quicken file, and use this article to download the update patch:

    I hope this helps!

Reconnect only found three banks and one utility. Had to manually track everything else. Lost a lot of auto updates.

Today I installed Quicken Classic Premier for Windows, Version R64.23, Build 27.1.64.23, and I have to say I am very disappointed. I very much understand there was a need to move to something much more reliable, but there are far fewer billers (I lost at least a 3rd of my billers).

It seems most major banks and utility companies still work. However, there are a large number of other billers that do not. Below is an example of some of the billers that no longer work (which previously worked):

HBOMax (tries to link to MAX Credit Union)
    Disney+
    Netflix
    DirecTV
    Spotify
    American Family Insurance
    Safeco Insurance
    VSP

About half of my credit card billers did not give me the option to reconnect. Also, due to all the problems being reported, I will be restoring from backup and wait until the next release is pushed out.

I do not expect the number of billers to change any time in the near future, so I will be evaluating other financial software.

This update is absolutely ridiculous. Like craigboyce said, we are paying for this and it gets worse with every update. I mean seriously…AT&T is not an option as an online biller with the switch??? The only thing that connected for me was the few credit cards that I have. I'm looking for another option. I'm sure switching will be less of a headache than dealing with this mess. Even my checking account has always been spot on & now it's off by $1000.

    Well, here's another fine mess…

Like the others above, was forced to move to 64.23 and my online bills and reminders are a mess and I don't even have that many.

At first AMEX went smoothly and practically updated it self (more on this in a moment).

Southern California Gas Company required filling out the lengthy form. Once completed and submitted, it's marked PENDING.

On to Southern California Edison. This was quick as it's not supported. What a disappointment.

Now on to Verizon. Complete the form, submit. Marked PENDING.

Now run OSU. Everything syncs ok (even zzz-Fidelity) except for errors on Bills.

So back to Bills. SoCalGas is still marked PENDING. I guess that's a good sign, maybe tomorrow it will complete.

Verizon failed. Say activation rejected by biller and some info on the form may be incorrect. I've retried this many many time. No spaces in account number, Put in my address EXACTLY how it appears on my bill. Abbreviate/not abbreviate doesn't matter. It fails every time.

Amex. Despite the apparent success the first time, it shows the red circle with ! and prompts me to reconnect. I go through the reconnect and this time the process is like the old one. I get the AMEX login screen and verify my identity. It says I'm authorized, I ensure it's linked to my Amex account, and it completes. Next OSU, it prompts me to reconnect again. I must be insane since I tried this several times expecting a different result but got the same one every time. So I deleted the biller and attempted to add new. Go through the motions, link to my existing account, and it's gone. There's no online bill for AMEX.

So once more unto the breech. Restore the backup from before the switch and try again. No improvement. After completing the redoing Verizon Wireless, I get this.

    biller.jpg

Here's the current state. SoCal Gas is till PENDING. Verizon still wants to reconnect. SoCal Edison wants the same but it's not available so I'll likely delete the biller. Amex also still wants to reconnect despite going through the process several times.

    bills.jpg

I'm done for today. Perhaps it will clear up a bit tomorrow.

Good luck to all of us.

Can't Quicken give us a download of the previous version so we can get back on line, use online bill-pay and track our investments? Do the fix for 64.23 and try again later.

The only reminders on my update that got whacky were tied to the online bills. My first pass through was to just reconnect. Eventually, based on comments in another thread, I restored a backup before the billpay change. Rather than "reconnect", I unlinked all the online billers from their reminders, then deleted the reminders and the billers.

Then "added" new online bills for each one. Once added, I recreated a reminder. Still, there are issues.

Verizon fails to connect. This is known and has an alert.

SoCal Edison is not available at this time. :(

SoCal Gas Co still says pending even though it's been since last Thursday when I recreated. It continues to tell me to wait.

American Express connected OK but I'm in between billing cycles. so I don't know if the new bill updates correctly.

It added my USAA Visa (not available before). Don't use the card much so not sure it's all properly connected.

The .23 release does address some other issues, so it won't get pulled. Hopefully, more fixes will roll out to resolve these and others that seemed to be introduced with the bill pay update. While hopefully not related to this, a bunch of FIs have changed the way we connect to download (DC to EWC+). A few of these (Fidelity is one) have gone completely haywire. So it appears that Dev is pretty busy these days.

Just wanted to add that my last AMEX billing period finally closed. I ran OSU this morning and despite the continued errors with SoCal Gas and Verizon, the Amex bill updated correctly (I've not had issues with the account download) and reflects the correct amount due.

It's amazing that Southern Cal Gas is recognized (but still pending) by the new biller but not Southern Cal Edison. Edison only has 15 million users in SoCal & another 5 million in coastal areas to the north. Our USAA visa also transferred but won't know till next month whether that is accurate. The rest of the linked accounts were deleted because none of them are in the new biller's d/b.

    It's a mess but don't I think there will be a fix, just a work-around.

So I removed the SoCal Gas and Verizon. The only 2 online bills left are AMEX and USAA Visa. I still get an OSU error saying one of my bills needs attention. Yet, when looking in the Bills section, neither has any flag on them. I even deleted ALL of the online bills. and their reminders, ran validate/super validate. Closed Q, opened Q, ran OSU (with NO online bills) and it still threw the error.

    No bills

    No bills.jpg

OSU running. Note: not syncing bills.

    sync no bills.jpg

OSU completes with error on Bills.

sync complete no bills w- error.jpg

I added the 2 Bills that appear to work (Amex and USAA)

    add online bills.jpg

Reran OSU and STILL got error.

    sync complete w-error.jpg

I did report this to Quicken using the "Report a Problem".

Has anyone been successful getting their latest American Express bill downloaded after adding it online and waiting for statement close?

Yes. These online billers were deleted and recreated on version 64.23. I am currently on 64.25 and they still don't work. I realize that there are not as many billers available with this new provider, but these are clearly offered on the new system/provider and they don't work. What I don't like is there isn't any feedback mechanism to tell me why they are failing. I also don't like that there is too much opportunity for failure as they are requiring so much information to be filled out. Before it was login and password and occasional piece of additional info. Now there is all of the input and when it fails and because quicken is like a black box with this, it doesn't tell you what fails. Is it the phone number, address number, address, account number, zipcode, first name, last name. SSN, email, etc. How are they looking at this with primary and secondary person's on the account. No feedback from Quicken dialog or interface. No log files that I know of. I have reported this several times to Quicken. BTW, all of these worked with the former provider. I lost my Netflix, AAA Towing and California State Auto Association insurance billers as they are no longer offered.

Yep. I am having the very same problems. When I posted the issues previously they were deleted by Quicken's monitor as "misinformation". In my case, their new provider is a total failure.

Funny you should ask. My Amex got updated this morning showing the proper due date and amount.

My USAA CC seems to work but I'm still "awaiting" next bill". None of my other online billers work so I deleted them all.

@Monte Bliss I'm having the same "success" as you. My 2 CC's seem to be OK but none of my other online billers work.

However, in my case many of them are a fixed monthly amounts. So I have these setup as manual bills with reminders. These include insurance premium payment, cell phone and most others that have a fixed payment.

Besides my CC's the only bills of mine that vary month to month are my electric and gas. Can't get these to work and see the same results as you They either connect but stay forever in "Pending", or they fail and say something's wrong with my input but doesn't say what exactly except "rejected by biller".

  • nmestanas
    nmestanas Member ✭✭✭✭

It shows a payment due date of 2 Oct. The amount matches my "new balance".

Pepco was removed as a valid biller for me. The other monthly utility bills never update, and neither do my credit card bills (which is why I am interested to know when your Amex statement closed to see how long I should expect to wait before it appears in Quicken).
