FCASH in Fidelity accounts
After recent changes to how Fidelity downloads to Quicken, I have noticed the following problem: It is trying to now keep cash reserves in a true security, called FCASH.
However, this doesn't seem to work with how cash is managed. My account (this is happening in multiple accounts) is set up in Quicken to hold multiple securities, and also have a cash balance. This always used to work; whenever transactions happened that affected cash (dividends, stock sales, interest, etc), my cash balance in Quicken would be affected.
Ever sicne on/around 8/20/25, Quicken asks me about a new security FCASH. I tried enabling it in these accounts. But problem is, no transactions against FCASH are downloaded. So say my Quicken account has $1000 in the actual cash balance. I don't actually have any transactions against FCASH; all the cash in Quicken is just in the "cash balance".
When transactions download from Fidelity, it still downloads stuff like dividends. But doesn't download anything affecting the security FCASH. So if I get a $100 dividend, that downloads. But nothing affects FCASH. The dividend entry just affects the Quicken "cash balance"; nothing hits FCASH; and then Quicken tells me that my security FCASH is out of balance. I would have to manually go "buy/sell" shares of FCASH each time cash changes
It seems like I either need to have cash transactions automatically affect the security FCASH; or, have Quicken stop trying to interpret this FCASH security altogether (which is how it used to work).
- I am using Quicken Classic for PC. Currently R64.19
- I have seen previous posts, with a link that says something to the effect of "Cash representation"/ I do not see that choice for my account.

What's the problem with ignoring FCASH (which, BTW, is NOT a real security) and just showing the cash as cash?
That's what I do.

When it tells you that FCASH is out of balance what balance is it giving from Fidelity?

Yes, that is exactly the problem. I do wish I could just ignore FCASH. I want the dividends to just go into the "Cash balance" of my account. Which is what Quicken does when a dividend is posted. That is how it always worked before this August.
But then when I am leaving that account, I keep getting a message that FCASH is out of balance. Say I have $5000 cash balance. When I leave, it tells me FCASH is supposed to have 5000 chares, when in fact it has 0. The only way to make it "happy" and balance is for me to manually enter a transaction to purchase 5000 chares of FCASH at $1. Then my cash balance goes to $0. That brings all the shares into balance; but I have to make a manual enter to buy (or sometimes, sell) shares of FCASH every time my cash balance changes. And those "transactions" to purchase/sell FCASH do not actually download.

Well, it is known that right now Fidelity has this kind of problems with the change over to Express Web Connect +.
I suggest you report it with: Help → Report a problem.
And I also suggest you vote for this idea to put this decision in the hands of the users.

I was gone for the last month, and just completed the Fidelity change-over. For several of my Fidelity accounts, Quicken asked me if I wanted to track my cash just as cash or as buys/sells on the underlying securities. I went with cash since that was how it worked in the past. However, for one of my IRAs I was not prompted for the change, and like davedonat, I now have a discrepancy between my holdings in Quicken and what is being reported by Fidelity. Any ideas?

+1. I have been having the same problem for a few weeks. It is very frustrating. Everything was fine, for many years, until a recent Quicken and/or Fidelity charge. Very frustrating. For me, it seems to only be happening in my non-tax advantaged brokerage accounts. Multiple IRA/401k accounts still seem to be fine.
I am running Quicken Classic Premier, R64.30, Build 27.1.64.30
If anyone knows a fix, I would love to know.
