Fidelity connection migration issue

I was able to migrate Merrill just fine, but doing Fidelity causes me incorrect balances in 2 of the 3 accounts I have there. The brokerage account appears to be good but the 2 401K type accounts are not. They have inflated balances with a bunch of manual transactions added for "Adjust balance to remove cash". I totaled up those manual transactions and it's not equal to the amount that is inflated, it is less in both cases. I think the problem may be because all of these manual ones date back exactly to when valid transactions showed up as Buy/Sell instead of Add/Remove shares.

Should I restore to backup and attempt to change all those to Add/Remove? If so how can you change a whole bunch of them instead of doing one by one?

How do I tell Quicken those should always be Add/Remove instead of Buy/Sell?

What does the "Contains no cash transactions" option do in the 401K account settings?

Thanks!

I restored from backup and found that both affected 401K accounts had checked "Contains no cash transactions". How can I keep Quicken from removing that when doing the connection migration?

Can anyone at Quicken help with this? I restored to backup and attempted to migrate Fidelity again. Once again it removes the "contains no cash transactions" option on both accounts and balances are inflated. I go and enable that option and it warns that it will delete all those manual cash adjustments, I allow it to do so. The very next sync it removes the option and adds them all back again.

    Hello @StephenCO,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it located on your Mac’s local hard drive, or is it stored on a cloud-based or external drive (e.g., iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, USB, etc.)?

If it’s on your hard drive, please also confirm whether the folder it’s in is being synced with any cloud service like iCloud Drive or Dropbox.

    Thank you!

Hello, my data file is in my Documents folder which is on the internal SSD "Macintosh HD". This directory is not being synced with any cloud service. This directory gets backed up daily in Time Machine. Thanks.

Any other ideas how to fix this? Should I delete these accounts and start over losing all history? At this point I'm fine with that if it reliably works with Fidelity 401k accounts.

No, you shouldn't delete your accounts, that almost never solves any Quicken problems. If you want to experiment to see what a brand new account would look like, disconnect the old accounts and create new ones to connect to while leaving the old ones in place. You can decide which ones you want to keep later.
