Invoicing only allows income and not expenses

I am trying to use invoicing for my accounts receivable, and I use a split, so my invoices include expenses. However, when I try to create an invoice and add items, it only lets me link my items to my income. I'm really annoyed by all this. And I'm not looking for a workaround; that implies this software isn't doing what it's supposed to do.

    Can you give us an example of such an invoice, please?

    There's another discussion where someone needs to enter items with a negative rate … is that similar to your issue?
