Quicken requests reauthorization for Fidelity LINKED cash account
I have a Fidelity brokerage account that shows cash in a linked checking account. Quicken is constantly asking me to reauthorize this linked account, which cannot be reauthorized since it's not a "real" Fidelity account; it's part of the brokerage account that has already been reauthorized.
I have gone through reauthorization multiple times without eliminating this request. I contacted Quicken Support and they instructed me to change the show cash in a linked checking account to "no." But the account has nearly twenty years of transactions in it. After a full twenty-four hours, it had not succeeded in remerging the cash transactions into the brokerage account. I hit End Task and restored a backup.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this error, without remerging the cash account into the brokerage, since that appears it will take days?
Thank you.

Hello @andrew.h.zack,
Thank you for letting us know you're encountering this issue. I suspect the issue may be file-specific, since, if an account needed to be reauthorized, Quicken should be telling you to reauthorize the brokerage account it's linked to, not the linked account itself. To start troubleshooting this, I suggest that you try validating your data file. Please save a backup file prior to performing these steps.
Validate:
- File
- Validate and Repair File...
- Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
Please let me know how it goes!

This is definitely NOT a file-specific issue - I have had the same problem for the last few months. I too have not found a solution and have tried all the deactivate/reactivate, validate/super-validate options, and yes, even considered unlinking the cash account but also have many years of linked cash activity which is not easily reversed.
I believe the key is to find a way to "deactivate" the internally linked account, but that technique would have to come from Intuit.
I look forward to a solution - after all this is the sort of support that we keep paying our subscription fees for.
Thank you

I reported a similar issue about this a few months ago. During the reauthorization process Quicken showed only the linked cash account in the accounts to link instead of the investment account.
I had to tediously unlink the cash account (which took almost 20 minutes of Quicken going through the transactions, which looked like Quicken had locked up but it didn't). Then I did the reauthorization which properly showed the investment account as a selection option. After relinking the investment account in Quicken, I converted it back to a linked cash account ( another long wait).
I had reported this as a problem, but it sounds like it was not resolved and the workaround takes a long time.
To give an estimate of processing time, my linked cash account held about 1600 transactions and its investment counterpart held about 1440 transactions. If you bite the bullet, and unlink the account, make sure to create a backup prior. I have not had an issue since. Fingers crossed.
Of course the time it takes to unlink the cash account and recreate the linked cash account depends on the computer speed and number of transactions.
Another more drastic (but possibly faster) workaround might be to disconnect the investment account, and add the fidelity account as a new account in quicken and leave the disconnected investment account and its linked counterpart for historical data. If this procedure works. It may be possible to create a linked account for the new account and move all transactions from the historical data into the new linked account and all the investment transactions to the new investment account. The move might be a possibly faster process than unlinking a cash account. I have not tested this out. Just thinking of alternatives.
