Missing paper clip icon after adding attachments
Please reopen the discussion with this Title. It was initiated on Nov 10, replied to by Alyssa on Nov 11 and closed on Dec 11.
I have a workaround that works fast and reliably 100% of the time. I have further information that may help Quicken locate and fix the underlying problem that has impacted so many users for so long.

Hello @batguano,
Thanks for following up. I’ve gone ahead and reopened the discussion, as requested.
We appreciate you taking the time to share that you have a workaround and additional information—please feel free to post the details both here and in the old discussion. If your findings include specific steps, conditions where the issue occurs, or anything that consistently reproduces or resolves the problem, please be sure to include those details.
Thank you again for contributing!

The issue: After adding an attachment to a Quicken transaction, using drag-and-drop or adding from a file list, the attachment is saved but the paper clip icon in the account register is not set on.
One (unsatisfactory) workaround was to wait 10 or more seconds after adding the attachment to allow Quicken to finish doing whatever it needs to do.
Suspecting the problem was caused by an interaction between my local Quicken app and a server somewhere (hopefully Quicken's), I disabled my PC's Ethernet connection and tried drag-and-dropping attachments. It worked fast, accurately and 100% of the time for 40 attachments.
I have Quicken Mobile & Web Sync set OFF. So why is Quicken apparently sending copies of my attachments to one of its servers? Circumstantial evidence, I agree, but what else could be happening to cause the seconds-long delay in successfully adding an attachment to a transaction?
A few days later, I forgot to disable the Ethernet adapter before adding a few attachments. It worked fast, accurately and 100% of the time EXCEPT when the destination transaction was selected (blue fill) in the register.
Now I am able to quickly add attachments at any time, while connected to the internet, as long as I remember not drop them on the currently selected transaction (which happens to be where I usually want to drop them!).

I agree with reopening this topic, it has been an issue for a long time. I'll share my experience.
Windows user. Rarely use drag and drop, never add attachments from scanner, always add attachments via "add file". Agree with Batquano's description of the issue: After adding an attachment to a Quicken transaction, using drag-and-drop or adding from a file list, the attachment is saved but the paper clip icon in the account register is not set on.
My workaround: what I have noticed is if I edit the active transaction in any way (payee/split/memo/etc) and also add an attachment then save, the anomaly presents itself. my workaround is to perform any edits to the transaction without any attachment changes, save the transaction, then go back an make the attachment performing no other actions. this has worked for me.

Thanks for reopening the discussion. Same issue I have had for quite some time, and I have been using the same workaround as MajorTom.
