Quicken clears tags from reminders. v 65.29; build 27.1.65.29 [Edited]
My Quicken Classic Business & Personal will not retain the tags I assign to bill and income reminders. I can insert the tag into the reminder. It will still be there after I validate the file, but, once I close and restart Quicken, almost all the tags in reminders disappear. I have both business and personal activities and use the tags to assign the same type of expense to different activities. For example, "Utilities" for my home will have the tag "Family," and "Utilities" for our rental property will be tagged "1234 W Gravel Rd." Both will have the same category - "Utilities." Please help me with this as tags and reminders are very important to keeping records and projecting cash flows.

Deleting the cloud data set cleared the problem. Instructions for deleting the cloud data set can be found here:
Searching in support for "delete cloud data set" produces other threads on the issue. Of course, once done, one must switch from the blank desktop file created to enable deleting the original cloud data set back to the original desktop file. Turn Cloud Sync off if you don't use Cloud Sync.
FYI, I do not use Quicken Cloud and have turned off Cloud Sync. If I wanted to resume cloud use, I assume I would simply turn on Cloud Sync and let Quicken create a new data set for the file I am currently using.

Hello @wrnoof,
Thank you for letting us know you're encountering this issue. To clarify, is the tag vanishing from the reminder itself, from the transactions in the register, or both? Is your Quicken file set to sync with the cloud when you close the file? Do you keep your Quicken file directly on your local hard drive? Is it synced with any cloud services such as OneDrive, iCloud, or Dropbox?
I look forward to your response!

Thank you for the response. The tag disappears from the reminder regardless of whether I open the reminder using ctrl+J or using the Bill & Income Reminders tab at the bottom of the register. When the tag is missing, the tag does not show up in the register when I select "Enter" from the Bill & Income Reminders tab at the bottom of the screen. If the tag is present, it shows up in the transaction entered in the register. The data file is kept on the PC. I keep backups in DropBox but the data file is on the local PC and is not synced with any online service.

I was wrong. The tags are cleared when I do a One-Step Update, not when I close and reopen the program.

@wrnoof various types of reminder corruption have been correlated with syncing bills and/or syncing to the Quicken cloud. You might want to try disabling those actions and see if the reminder corruption stop.

Thanks. Cloud sync has been disabled for a while.

I spoke too soon. I followed the suggestion of creating an empty data file and, while that new file was open, deleting the data set for the original file. I then turned off Quicken Mobile & Web syncing and opened the original file. I was able to retain the tag in my reminders for a while . . . until I couldn't. The "all future instances" reminders retained the category and tag information, but "this instance" lost either the category, tag or both and was entered in the register without the missing information. Once this happened, I noticed a new cloud data file had been created for the original file even though Quicken Mobile & Web syncing was turned off. I went back to the beginning, opened the empty dummy file, deleted the online data set for the original file, turned off QM&W syncing and reopened the original file. Everything seemed fine again . . . . until it wasn't. The online data set had been created again even though QM&W syncing was turned off. It seems QM&W syncing is interfering with my "this instance" reminders and I don't know how to stop it.
