Net worth in sidebar is not matching Net Worth Report
I am running Quicken for Mac and recently updated to Version 8.4.2 . I was running a Net Worth Report by year and on the report my current value today is not matching . My prior years are also off . I noted last week when I was running the same report the values were matching .
Has anyone else noted the same issues when running Net Worth reports ? I was reading communication from other Quicken members that they have run into issues when updating to Version 8.4.2

The left sidebar is can be, but is not necessarily, the same as your net worth in a report. That's why the bottom of the left sidebar says "Total" and not "Net Worth".
The left sidebar may be set to Online Balance or Projected Balance, either of which will make the sidebar different than a Net Worth report as of today. There may be scheduled transactions not yet matched or marked as paid, for today or prior days, in an account; those transactions are counted in left left sidebar account balances, but not in a Net Worth Report. Look at each account in the left sidebar versus the Net Worth report; find one which had a different total, and look at the account register versus the drill-down report from the Net Worth report. You should be able to identify the differences, like the ones mentioned above.
I don't think anything changed in this area specifically with version 8.4.2, at least as far as I can see.

Hello
I did find the one investment account which has the significant balance that is off from the net worth report . In checking on my Etrade account I have a few investment accounts ,non Ira , IRA , and Sepa. One account balance is off, it matches on my " Total " , however does NOT match on the net worth report
How do I run a " drill down report " from the Net Worth Report ?
Thank you

I had an issue with net worth showing incorrectly in the reports. See "Incorrect Net Worth due to "Ghost" accounts after update to Quicken Mac 8.4.2". What I found was that some accounts had what appeared to be corrupt transactions. I reentered them manually and saw that I could return the net worth to what I expected.

Unfortunately that is not my issue . One of my stock brokerage accounts is off. All my other banking accounts and stock accounts are accurate

@jjrichards So your problem is with one ETrade account? Grab a copy of your last monthly eTrade statement for this account. Open the account in Quicken, go to the Portfolio view, and set the "Data as of" date to the ending date of the statement. Then generate a Net Worth report as of this same date.
- Does the amount on the Net Worth report for the statement date match the amount on the Portfolio page set to that date?
- Does the amount on the Portfolio page match the ETrade statement amount?
- If not, review your holdings on the ETrade statement versus your holdings in the Quicken Portfolio view to see where there is a discrepancy. What is different?

Hi enclosed is the answers to your questions . I ran my Etrade statement as of 12-31-2025
- Does the amount on the Net Worth report for the statement date match the amount on the Portfolio page set to that date? NO the portfolio amount as of 12-31-25 is significantly off from the net worth report set as of the same date 12-31-2025
- Does the amount on the Portfolio page match the ETrade statement amount? YES the amount on the Portfolio page matches to my Etrade Statement to the exact dollar
- If not, review your holdings on the ETrade statement versus your holdings in the Quicken Portfolio view to see where there is a discrepancy. What is different?
The Net Worth report at years end matched exactly a few weeks ago to my Portfolio. I upgraded to the latest Mac Version 8.4.2 about 10 days ago and noted the differences . My other two IRA Etrade accounts match exactly on the Portfolio to the net Worth.
It's worth noting that my two other Etrade IRA's I started 5 years ago. The account that is off I have had for over 35 years of data . I converted from Q for Win to Q Mac in November 2025

this postI converted from Q for Win to Q Mac in November 2025
I think that, along with what was discussed in the other thread by @2wheelscuba, might point to why things are off. During the conversion, Quicken creates some odd splits on investment transactions — splits a user can't make, and which appear invisible until you click on them.
Jump down to about the 11th post and read down from there. In this post, the odd converted Buy transactions are shown. The solution was to re-enter the Buy transaction (without splits, of course, because there are no splits in a Buy transaction) and delete the original one.
It seems something in the way the Windows > Mac converter handled these transactions is wrong, and perhaps it was hidden until some minor change in a recent release exposed the problem. At least that;'s the sense I got from working with @2wheelscuba on his now-resolved discrepancy, which sounds just like yours.

Thank you for the response . If I am reading you correctly I would have to go thru 30 years of transactions and determine the " odd converted buy transactions " to correct. Granted I may only want to go back 5 years and try and find these transactions , however that may still mean Net Worth Report will be off ?
Since the prior version of Mac before I updated had no issues , is it possible to reinstall a previous Mac Version ?
Thank you for your help

Yes, you can go back to the previous version if you want. You'd have to revert to the data file you were using prior to the update as well, so anything you've entered since the update would need to be re-done. The prior version of the application is in your Trash and has a name like "Quicken (803.58902.100).app". Your old data file will be in your backups folder, with a name like "BACKUP (Pre-Update) - [your file name] [date].quickenbackup".
But before you go that route, consider that unless the Quicken developers discover there is a new bug here and fix it, you'll be locking yourself into remain on the prior version indefinitely. So it might be worth going through the Buy transactions (over time, you don't need to do it all at once) to fix any that have funky splits. This is assuming you have the same issue which the other user did. You might be able to quickly see how many such transactions there are by searching for the tag "-Split-" he identified. This was one user and his experience, so I don't know if yours is the same. I also don't know if all the Buy transactions are problematic or just a few. What's odd is that in his case, and your case, this issue did not appear in all investment accounts.
I would guess that the developers may not be aware of whatever issue was introduced in the recent upgrade which surfaced this issue with Net Worth in selected investment accounts. You could go down the road of trying to document it, calling Quicken Support, asking them to do a screen share with you, and hopefully getting a good Support representative who will see what you're seeing and escalate this to the developers to look at. (Not every Support representative will understand the issue and pursue it; if you get someone who tells you your file is corrupted and doesn't dig into it, you'll have to try again in a different call or give up.)

Hi I agree that best not to try and reconvert back to the prior version of Quicken .
I am also puzzled that this was the only one of the four Etrade accounts I have which was off . The other large account I have with Etrade dollar wise I do have new " Buy" trades, however the net Worth report matches exactly to the Portfolio amount .
I may call Quicken help desk , however I have read the experiences from other members its depends on who answers the call .
If many others experience the same issue and report to Quicken , maybe programmers can fix and put out updated version .
