How do I open old (V6, V7, etc) quicken files if I lost the password?

I need to get the files open to find capital improvememnts done to my use to update the basis before sale.

    Are you talking about QWin or QMac? QWin (you posted in a QWin forum) doesn't use/have "V" numbering.

    And, how were these older files created? (or, variation, how was your current file created?) Why wasn't that info carried over when you created the current file?
