create investment transaction type that is not on the list
Hi - using Quicken for Mac in Canada. One of my accounts holds mutual funds. I get a monthly fee rebate of a few cents on each fund I hold. Those amounts are reinvested for more shares, but they are not dividends or interest being reinvested. Is it possible to create a new category? In my case I would want one called Reinvested Fee Rebate.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You can't create a new subcategory of the Investment category, because Quicken wouldn't know how to handle it in its tax and gain calculations. I guess the question I have to you is: how is this rebate characterized in the real world? It's just free money you get? It isn't income? It isn't a refund of a commission expense?
If the money truly appears out of thin air, not reportable as income and adding to the cost basis of your security, then I suppose you could enterer a Type=Payment/Deposit transaction to record the money in; use a category of "Adjustment", which is a special category which does not count as income or expense. Then, you could enter a Buy transaction to use up the cash and purchase the additional shares.
Hopefully if someone else has a similar investment account and has encountered this can offer you different or better advice!
