So many problems with online bills and the biller connections.
I reported a related problem with Manual Bills as well.
If you have ANY online billers set and use one-step update to try to update them, certain unrelated Manual Bills will also get corrupted when running One-Step update.
The specific scenario I tested repeatedly is that if you have a manual bill reminder with routine scheduling (such as monthly), and you edit ONE of the instances (say to set a special $ amount for that month)… that single instance of the recurring manual bill gets corrupted when One-Step Update is run for the unrelated Online Bills.
Usually the Category for the manual bill gets removed.. and usually the $ amount gets set back to $0.00.
Running VALIDATE tries to correct the manual bill, but generally it has to be rebuilt.

Your mileage may vary.. but this was reproducible in my file.
I'm just avoiding online bills completely for the time being.

The corruption to manual bills doesn't happen if you don't include "Online Bills" in your One-Step update routine.

    Hello @Neuralized,

Thank you for sharing your experience. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information:

    • When did you first notice this issue?
    • Was there anything that happened around the same time, such as a program/computer update or crash?
    • Is your Quicken file located directly on your local hard drive?
    • Is your Quicken file synced with any cloud service, such as iCloud, OneDrive, or Dropbox?
    • Does this happen exclusively to manual bills that have had the upcoming instance edited?

I look forward to your reply!

The initial time of issue beginning is unknown.
I had seen the issue of corrupted manual reminders ongoing since late 2025.
I just kept individually fixing them.
Recently, I decided to do some additional testing by making backup copies, testing and then restoring from backups.
My quicken file is stored local on C: drive.
I am not running Quicken web sync.
Performing the test repeatedly with the same restored backup file, with steps 1-4 below already configured.
Then running one-step update both with- and without the "update billers" option selected.

From my limited testing, the issue occurs under the following conditions:
    1. At least One Online Biller is configured, thus enabling "update billers" option in one-step update.
    2. additional manual bill reminders are created.
    3. a manual bill is configured with a recurring cycle, and the Category, From-account and memo are set.
    4. using the "Edit This Instance" of a manual bill, a single instance of the recurring reminder is edited with a different category or different dollar value.
    5. On running One-Step update and selecting "update billers", the single instance of the edited manual bill is corrupted.

The corruption of the manual bill did NOT occur if one-step update is run and "update billers" is NOT selected.
If no online billers are configured, the "update billers" option does not appear. In this situation, the manual bill remains correctly configured when one-step update is run.

    Thank you for your reply,

You mentioned you tested by restoring some backups. How far into the past did you go with those backups? Did you observe the same behavior in every restored file?

Which online billers have been connected when this behavior is triggered?

    Thank you!
