The cash balance was way off ($24,000) in Investment Account Register compared to cash showing in Portfolio view. Restored old 9/12/2025 file and register agrees with portfolio view ($150.56). Restored old 9/18/2025 file and error appeared. Didn't notice it until I was troubleshooting some downloaded transactions. Problem appears to be related to transactions entered in 2004 when transferring securities from another company to Schwab. Attached problem screen shot (9/18/2025 restore) and OK screen shot (9/12/2025 restore) of these old transactions.

    Hello @FarmHills,

Thank you for sharing. I can see in the top screenshot that the 2004 transactions are increasing the cash balance, even though it appears to be a transfer from another account to pay for the purchased securities.

Did you already manually correct the discrepancy? Was there anything that happened in September that may have caused the change in your account register?

I look forward to your response!

The Balancing cash adjustments coupled with N/A in the Cash amount are an indication that there are Placeholders for the affected securities at a later date.

    Kristana,

Attempted to change 2004 transactions but have not figured out what changes to make that doesn't affect the portfolio view account value. May be reduced to restoring the 9/12/2025 file and manually updating all my investment, credit card and bank accounts. Can't figure out why those 9 transactions are shown as $0.00 in the 9/12/2025 file restore cash balance then suddenly showing amounts in the 9/18/2025 file restore cash balance.

    Jim_Harman,

Nothing changed that I can think of. The only reason I noticed the appearance of a large cash balance on the investment account register was because I was troubleshooting a small discrepancy between Schwab account balance and Quicken account balance. I was looking for possible downloaded transaction problems. For months and a number of transaction downloads the Quicken Portfolio view account balance was tracking with the Schwab account balance. I compare the Schwab account balances to the Quicken Portfolio view weekly before backing up. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this issue in the investment register until recently.

    All,

I have run Validate/Repair on the file several times. Also ran the Ctrl-Z command more than once. I have checked for updates and am running Version: R66.23, Build: 27.1.66.23. Quicken shows "Placeholder Entries (O)"

    Thank you for your reply,

What results did you see when you ran the Validate/Repair? Was it detecting any issues?

    Thank you!
