Recording Silver Collectibles

I am recording my silver coins, so far so good. Now I've come to the graded coins. Do I just record them per ounce (spot price) and put a memo as to the grading?

"I am recording my silver coins, so far so good."

I'm kind of assuming here that the "silver coins" referred to here are more or less the non-collectible pre-1964 dimes and quarters and pre-1970 Kennedy half dollars recorded as "ounces of silver" and now you're asking about the collectible silver coins that have numismatic value?

Since the only way to keep current on the value of the collectible coins is through manual entry of "quotes" from time to time, something that might be considered doable if the number of coins isn't too outrageous, then I think you're forced to enter each coin (or group of coins with the same face value/date/grading) as a separate "security" and manually enter those quotes.

From a practical standpoint, if you're dealing with too many coins to make manual entry of quotes practicable I just think Quicken really isn't up to the task.
