Quicken File Over 500K But Empty
I had some major problems with my system. Now when I open my Quicken file it appears empty. The file size on disk is over 500K. How can I get to the data in the file? (Yes, I also tried the backup.)

Hi @saberman,
Thank you for sharing what you’re experiencing and for letting us know you’ve already tried restoring a backup from before the issue began.
To help narrow down the cause, I have a few questions:
- When did the issue start?
- Did you notice if it began after a Quicken?
- Where is your Quicken data file located?
- To check, open Quicken and go to File.
- At the bottom under Recent Files, the file with the check mark is the one currently open. Please provide the full file path shown there.
- Is your file being backed up or synced by any third-party services (such as Carbonite, OneDrive, or Backblaze)?
- Are you using a VPN, firewall, or antivirus software? If so, please let me know which one(s).
- Do you have any pending Windows updates, or did you install one around the time the issue began?
- Have you tried to validate your file?
- What is the date of the backup you attempted to restore?
Your answers will be very helpful in identifying the cause. I look forward to your response!

Hi @saberman,
I just wanted to follow up since I haven’t heard back from you. I’m checking in to see if you still need assistance.

I had a major computer problem. Need to get the full system up and running.
However, it would still be helpful if here was a utility that would let me independently verify the Quicken file.

Have you tried the "usual" procedure of Validate plus Supervalidate?
If that doesn't fix it, restore a backup taken before the problems started.
