Quicken is creating duplicate transactions on my matching downloads
When I accepting a match on my downloaded bank transactions, Quicken creates a duplicate. Anyone have success in correcting this? I am using Quicken Classic and Personal on OC

I have entered an expected automatic income deposit in the checking account register, and downloaded transaction says it matches, but when I approve, instead of marking the transaction cleared, it enters it as a duplicate.

I'm running Quicken Classic Deluxe Version R66.28, Build 27.1.66.28. Since getting this latest version I've noticed that it is sometimes duplicating existing transactions in different accounts. Has anyone else experienced this issue? It's aggravating! It seems like every time I download an application update that's supposed to fix something (typically a problem I wasn't experiencing), it ends up breaking something else. I didn't realize that I had signed up to work in your QA department. Where's my paycheck?

@smichels62 To be clear, after downloading transactions to Account A, are the duplicate transactions appearing in a different account, or are you saying that they are in the same account but that problem affects several accounts?
If different accounts, are the duplicates the other side of transfers?

I am experiencing the same behavior. I have sent my my logs into Quicken.

This sounds like the same problem I reported a week or so ago.
- In my case it seems to only happen to recurring automatic pay accounts. Had to wait until today to see another automatic payment account to be processed in order to see it happen again.
- Quicken is detecting duplicate transactions BECAUSE the bank (in my case Truist) is CHANGING the actual transaction date the payment hit the bank (eg: 4/1/2026) to the date it was processed (cleared) by the bank (eg: 4/2/2026)

Recently, downloaded transactions are being added to my register even though the transaction already exists in the register. At reconcile the transactions incorrectly added to the register show as a match, but they are not matched to the existing transaction but instead matched to the download added transaction. This causes many duplicates and incorrect account balances. Also, Automatically add to banking registers is off.

I'm having the same sort of issue with matching transactions with downloaded institution data for items that I'd entered via Reminders. The transactions are not saved as cleared after matching them and are instead being duplicated with the new duplicate transaction being cleared and Category fields changed to blank.
It looks like it first started about a month ago for me.
I've submitted the problem report through the Help menu option.

I have the same issue. I download. It says it is a match, which it should since I already have the transaction in the register waiting for download to clear, but it doesn't actually clear/reconcile the entry I have. It creates a duplicate and clears that, leaving my original entry still uncleared and now duplicated. I noticed the created/duplicated/cleared transaction usually does not have a category. If it is a transfer, the duplicate often selects the wrong account, causing a discrepancy in two accounts now. So I go back and delete that one and then manually clear/reconcile my original. This has been going on for a few weeks now. I figured I'm not alone here. Just waiting for a patch in the form of a new update. I'm sure there are enough people already here that I don't need to do this log thing. I just want to post to the thread so I get updated when it is resolved. So frustrating. I try to remember and catch it when it happens but I forget and get caught all the time. Like Simon Says :)

Having the same problem as all the other users in the thread.
It happens with my banking accounts but not my credit card accounts. I added the download ID to my register but most banking transactions don't have a download ID.

In addition to creating duplicates, it gets automatically entered in the register even if I delete it in the downloaded transaction section. This happens without me accepting the transaction.

I am also getting this duplicated transaction behavior. It took me some time to notice it and even more time to clean up the mess. While I've uploaded logs, can we get a known issue thread going so that we can follow and get updates on a resolution?

I am experiencing the same/similar situation as others here with my checking account.
Downloaded transactions that should match already existing entries in the register (and have done so successfully for years), say they are matched in the Downloaded Transactions window before I accept them. However, if I remember to look closer, they are each actually matched to a duplicate transaction that was automatically created when the OSU completed. If I go ahead and accept transactions at this point, the existing transactions remain uncleared, while the newly created duplicates (usually without a category) are cleared.
This happened this morning with 2 transactions, one was a deposit, the other a payment. In the Downloaded Transactions window, both were matched to bogus duplicate transactions created during the OSU. What I did this time was to manually match each of the 2 new transactions to the already existing ones in the register and then accept transactions. That resulted in the correct version of each transaction being cleared but still left me with the 2 duplicated ones - which I manually deleted afterwards.
I have submitted a report with logs.
