Feature Request: Add Optional “Future Projection” Toggle to support (Scheduled/Budget Transactions)

Feature Request: Add Optional “Future Projection” Toggle to Reports (Scheduled Transactions + Budget Data)

Summary
Please add an option within report customization that allows users to include future-dated scheduled transactions and budgeted category amounts in reports via a simple toggle (on/off). This would extend the strong capabilities of Quicken for Mac reporting to support forward-looking financial planning, not just historical analysis.

Problem / Gap
Currently, Quicken for Mac provides:

  • Excellent reporting for historical data
  • A useful projected balance view for accounts

However, there is no way to generate a report that:

  • Aggregates future scheduled income and expenses, including split transactions (e.g., payroll with federal tax withholding)
  • Summarizes forecasted totals by category, such as total federal tax withholding over a future period
  • Incorporates budgeted category values into report outputs

This creates a disconnect between planning tools (budget, scheduled transactions, projected balances) and reporting.

Why This Matters
A key real-world example is federal tax withholding forecasting:

  • Many users rely on paycheck splits to track withholding
  • Avoiding IRS penalties requires visibility into year-to-date + projected withholding totals
  • Currently, there is no straightforward way to report on this without manual work

More broadly, users need to answer questions like:

  • “How much federal tax will be withheld by year-end based on current payroll?”
  • “How much discretionary money will I have available for a vacation after planned expenses?”

These are not edge cases—they are core personal finance planning needs.

Impact of Not Having This Feature

  • Requires manual aggregation or external spreadsheets
  • Increases risk of tax underpayment penalties due to lack of visibility
  • Reduces trust in reports as a complete financial picture
  • Forces users to reconcile multiple tools (budget vs reports vs projections)
  • Makes Quicken less competitive as a forward-planning tool

Proposed Solution
Add a “Include Future Data” toggle in report customization with options such as:

  • Include scheduled transactions (within selected date range)
  • Include budgeted amounts by category
  • Option to include or exclude reminders not yet entered
  • Maintain clear distinction (e.g., flagged or labeled as projected vs actual)

Benefits

  • Enables true forecast reporting by category (including tax withholding)
  • Supports tax planning and compliance, helping users avoid penalties
  • Improves decision-making for discretionary spending (travel, large purchases, etc.)
  • Leverages existing Quicken data (no new data entry required)
  • Aligns reporting with how users actually plan finances—forward-looking, not just retrospective

Why This Should Be Prioritized
This feature builds directly on existing capabilities (scheduled transactions, budgets, reports) and connects them in a way users already expect. It would significantly enhance the practical value of Quicken for Mac for both everyday users and those managing more complex financial planning.

If this would improve your workflow, please consider upvoting so it gains visibility.
