Hello @tarkus9,
Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this issue. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information:
- When did you first notice this issue?
- Was it working correctly before?
- Is the checking account a linked checking account?
- How do the problem transactions appear in the account register?
I look forward to your reply!

@tarkus9 Have you ever been able to reconcile the checking account?
- Have you ever changed the CLR field in any transaction (including the other side of a transfer) either to or from "R"?
- Have you changed the download method into the checking account from, say, Direct Connect to Express Web Connect (+)?
- Have you disconnected and reconnected the checking account, or "Reset" it?
ANY of those 3 actions can cause a bug in Q to change the Opening Balance of the account … which makes reconciling impossible.
SO, pull out older statements for the account and see if you can visually confirm the prior reconcile balance and date. If you can't, please report back and we can tell you how to see if that Opening Balance got changed.

Hi Quicken Kristina ,
- It started 1/2026
- everything was working ok previously
- The associated investment account showed up 1/2026. Previously the interest earned transactions were downloaded into the checking account as nonlinked transactions. The checking account is link to fidelity as a checking account.
- The interest earned transactions show up in the checking now as FDIC etc with the category linking it to the investment account transaction. I don't need the investment account associated to the checking account and would like to get rid of it. I have separate investment accounts.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi NotACPA ,
I had reconciled everything through to the end of 2015. Then the linked investment account popped up and all the problems it has.
1 I tried to change the CLR field rom blank to R in the checking account, but it kicks the error the you have to reconcile the transaction in the linked investment account and that doesn't let change the CLR field.
2 "Direct Connect to Express Web Connect" Yes I was forced to..
3 Yes several times.
Yes I get the dreaded balance adjustments spread thru previous years . I've deleted them and put in my own adjustment transactions a "misc" and that works until I do another transactions download.
Thanks NotACPA

@tarkus9 Do you really mean "end of 2015"???
Because if you've truly been doing this finagling for over 10 years, I think the only suggestion that I can offer is that you figure out what the balance should be as of 1/1/26 and create a new account as-of that date … abandoning the current account in Q.
