CRITICAL: BOA accounts constantly disconnecting (Error 324) – reconnect does NOT fix it

I am experiencing a persistent and critical issue with Bank of America connections in Quicken.

For the past month, my accounts repeatedly disconnect with the following error:

“A name or number for your Bank of America account may have changed. (Error 324)”

This is happening across multiple accounts (20+), including checking, savings, and credit cards.

What I already tried:

  • Disconnecting and reconnecting accounts multiple times
  • Revoking access directly from Bank of America website
  • Re-adding accounts from scratch
  • Following all standard troubleshooting steps

Result:

The issue temporarily resolves, but the accounts disconnect again within hours

Impact:

  • Transactions are NOT downloading
  • Balances appear but transaction lists are missing
  • I cannot reliably track finances or reconcile accounts

Important:

This is NOT a user error or a one-time sync issue.
This appears to be a recurring connectivity problem between Quicken and Bank of America.

What I need:

  • Confirmation if this is a known issue
  • A permanent fix (not reconnect workaround)
  • Escalation to engineering if needed

Is anyone else experiencing this?

This issue is making Quicken unusable for me at the momen

    Hi @Greg Magiera,

Thank you for reaching out and for outlining the steps you’ve already taken; that’s very helpful. After reviewing your accounts on our end, it appears that only one set of Bank of America accounts is currently returning an error.

To help us narrow this down further, could you please provide a bit more information on the following:

    • Do you have more than one set of login credentials for your Bank of America accounts, or are all accounts accessed with a single username and password?
    • On your end, are all Bank of America accounts returning an error, or only specific ones?
    • Are there any hidden or older accounts in Quicken that may still be linked to Bank of America?
    • Are you using a VPN, firewall, or antivirus software? If so, please let me know which one(s).

I look forward to your response!

    Thank you for your response.

Here are the details you requested:

    Login credentials:
I have 3 separate Bank of America login profiles:

    1. My wife's accounts – all working correctly
    2. Business account #1 (single checking account) – working correctly
    3. Main profile (7 accounts under one login) – these are the accounts that keep disconnecting repeatedly

    Scope of the issue:
Only the accounts under the 3rd login (7 accounts) are affected. The other two login profiles are stable and working without any issues.

    Hidden/old accounts:
There are no hidden or old Bank of America accounts linked in Quicken.

    Security software:
I am not using any VPN. Standard firewall only (no changes recently). No antivirus interference.

    Additional context:
I have been using Quicken for several years and have never experienced this type of repeated disconnection issue before.

This problem is isolated to one login group and keeps recurring even after reconnecting.

I am attaching a screenshot from today showing multiple accounts failing again with Error 324.

Please advise on next steps or escalate if needed, as reconnecting is only a temporary fix.

    Thank you for your response.

I understand the suggestion to contact phone support, however I want to clarify that this appears to be a specific connectivity issue rather than a general setup problem.

Two out of my three Bank of America login profiles are working perfectly fine. Only one profile (with 7 accounts) is repeatedly disconnecting with Error 324.

This suggests the issue is isolated and likely related to how this specific login is handled by Quicken/aggregation services.

Since reconnecting has already been done multiple times and only provides temporary results, I am looking for a root cause or confirmation if this is a known issue.

Can this be escalated or reviewed further on your end before directing to phone support?

    Thank you.
