Does anyone else have problems downloading transactions and portfolio values from Schwab?

I have multiple accounts with Schwab (Taxable, IRA, Roth, etc.) and one account in particular wasn’t downloading anything. Then it starting downloading some information, incorrectly. Short Sales would appear as a Deposit, with the underlying stock in the Memo field.

At the time all other accounts from Schwab worked correctly, and balanced to the penny! Banks & Credit cards were also fine.

March 5, 2026 I reached out to Quicken and spent 90 minutes on the phone with them (chat, phone, etc.). We did screen sharing, I sent them log files; they had me log out of Quicken, reboot, re-start Quicken, log back in; re-send log files, screen shots and more. They assigned a Ticket Number to the issue. Unresolved!

April 8, 2026 I contacted Quicken Support again – I was told there is no resolution (yet).

Well today, April 15th, I’ve discovered none of my Schwab accounts are updating!

I’ve tried all the usual stuff – Reset Account(s); Deactivate >> Re-activate accounts from Online downloading; Checked for Quicken Updates; Rebooted my computer; Checked for Windows updates;

I even opened Quicken, created a NEW Quicken File, added one Schwab account to test… and it didn’t download correctly either. It did download ‘some’ transactions, but not enough, not enough holdings, not accurate where it can be trusted. Am I alone with this issue?

Since Schwab downloads come via the EWC+ protocol and that particular protocol depends on a "token" that expires and needs to be renewed periodically, your problem might be due to an expired token. You are supposed to be notified about this via Quicken, but I've had this problem once before where there was no notification.

What I'd try is to deactivate ALL Accounts - even closed and hidden - from downloading. As you deactivate Accounts you can also clear the "Financial Institution" field. (I don't think I actually did that when the event I described above occurred, but it's frequently mentioned as being done in this situation, and it won't hurt anything as the field will be filled in again when you re-connect.)

Then go through the ADD Account process specifying Schwab as the FI. After you enter your user name and password to Schwab Quicken should come back with all those accounts at Schwab and present them. Then you carefully LINK each account to its proper Quicken Account.

    Tom,

Ok, something to try. I have however had to re-authorize via Schwab, to allow Quicken access, multiple times. Guessing this isn't the same as the Token you're describing?

And in re-authorizing, it has popped up to Link or Add each account… done carefully, as you said.

And for your idea, we are only talking Invesntment accounts, right? No need to change de-activate banking and credit cards, right?

    Didn't work.

Deactivated every account; add account, Schwab… connected.
I looked through each account and it appears no account has sucessfully downloaded transactions since 4/6/2026. Values are way off; transactions are not downloading.

Even transactions I've manuslly added, aren't getting 'cleared' status since 4/6/26.

Quicken is a great program when things work right; but a frustrating program when they don't. Quicken support appeared as if they have no idea what's going on either.
FYI — yes, I've reached out to Schwab a few times too; they confirm all is good at their end

    ** Update **

Ok, got it to work with a different idea…..
I downloaded Quicken again (part of the process deletes old, installs new); Created a New Quicken file, completely blank, empty. Then I went to:
    » Add Accounts
    » Schwab
It took quite a while, but it found all my accounts; verified Cash balances and downloaded transaction all the way back to 12/2024 for most accounts, 1/2026 for one account.
Balances now match online dollars (haven't verified holdings yet).

So, since this is a new Data file, I feel as if I have a few options:
    1. I can add accounts till all my accounts are in the new data set; History becomes very short, back only 18 months.
    2. Can I Export one account, and then import the same account into the new data set? thereby having history?
    OR
Can I export a Brokerage account from the New data set (that works) into my old Quicken data set? thereby keeping history back to 2017 (yes, I do look backwards for one reason or another, often).

The current data set I'm using is from 2017, as Quicken (my version, my data) had an error back then that I couldn't resolve; so I created a new data set then and moved on. It's worked for nine years…. and here I am again. old data set = 116 mb; new data set 24 mb but Quicken claims the only limitation is HD space.

FYI — old data set still does not download transactions from Schwab, since 4/6/26. Some flag must be wrong within the program data set?

It might very well be a corrupted file that you're looking at. Perhaps validate and repair the file and take another run at it?

Yes the need to authorize downloading with an Account using EWC+ does come about with the expiration of the token.

If you do try the validate and repair process then another thing that has been recommended by Moderators is to first go to Schwab and stop allowing 3rd party access from their end. Again, nothing I've needed to do in the past but I'd try everything just to see if you can get the old file working again. The Add Account process should then present you with the page in Schwab that allows for 3rd party access, so you grant that access to al the Schwab accounts.

It might be the token issue that someone else mentioned. This was an issue with Fidelity for many people very recently. Search for that and follow those steps. One of the key steps there was turning sink off and even if you're not using cloud sync you have to turn it on then turn it off. There are other steps too, but that fixes the expired token issue if that's what your problem is and what you're describing is exactly or at least very similar to the Fidelity issue not too long ago. By the way I have three Schwab accounts, two under one user ID and one under another in all three update with no issues.

    I give up (for now).

Old Data Set: Ran the Validate, nothing serious found, a few splits, that was about it. Banks, Credit Cards and all Schwab accounts, Except one, update fine. The one I want it to update, it doesn't. Then I noticed other Schwab accounts not updating either. It used to be make a trade, use One Step and Quicken would pick up the trade within five minutes after it happened. Now I have a few trades 10 days old it's not capturing.

So, per above I re-installed Quicken; created a new Data set and added in my Schwab accounts. So far, good. Exported 6 or so misc accounts from old data set (checking, CC, etc., no investment) to get/keep history going back 10+ years.
Schwab accounts appear to be updating — however the primary account giving me fits, still downloads incorrectly.
Stock Short Sells appear as a Deposit towards the Cash balance; with the underlying stock listed in the Description field. As this is a new account for me (six months), I've got 50 to 100 Short Sells on certain days. I'm not going to Edit that many, when Quicken is supposed to do this for me / us.

I've reported this to Quicken Support 3/5/26 and again 4/8/26 and spent 90 minutes on the phone/chat/screen sharing and all I got was a Ticket Number…zero response, zero communication!

    Come'on Quicken….work with me

    Quicken Kristina,

Thanks for an update; I had ticket # 12273795, 3/5/26 hopefully that relates to the same number you referenced.

FYI — I recently tried the steps to correct the Token issue (per a Google Search). Nothing improved.

I Edited all accounts to Deactivate online access; removed account number and Financial names; Logged out of my Quicken (Edit > Preferences > Quicken ID >Sign in as different user) Closed Quicken two minutes; Re-opened > logged in > Added Schwab accounts (linked to existing).

End result, All Schwab accounts Except one have the correct account dollar value (within an acceptable range, market timing, etc.); I have not checked or matched holdings.
The one account that is causing the most grief is WAY off due to the Short Sales being reported as a Cash Deposit, therefore, throwing off the value of the account significantly.

    Thank you for your reply,

Based on the information in the escalated ticket, the problem is with the data that's being sent to Quicken. Further troubleshooting on your end (unless our escalated teams reach out and ask you to follow specific steps) will not fix the issue.

There isn't any good workaround for the problem. Since you mentioned there are many incorrectly downloaded short-sale transactions, manually correcting them all would be a lot of work. Adding adjustment transactions (with notes to indicate they're to correct balance discrepancies caused by the short sales downloading incorrectly) would be the best option for now.

    Thank you!
