I suspect using syntax like that would appeal to only a very small technically minded population. That said, the general idea is still valid; to provide a way to search for 'not equal to', 'greater than', 'less than', 'contains', 'exact match', 'starts with', 'ends with', etc. both within an account or across accounts. It should also include a few more features:
This is mostly available in QM2007. There should be something equivalent in the new Quicken for Mac, etc. Be sure to click the little black triangle under the VOTE count in the yellow banner below, so your vote will count for THIS feature and increase its visibility to the developers by seeking to have the features you need or desire end up in the latest version (it may take a moment for your vote to register).(If the triangle is grey, your vote has already been counted.)Your VOTES matter!

This one change would greatly increase the utility of the reports.
After researching reports capabilities, I see that Quicken supports replacing data directly from reports. Based on the very powerful search capabilities in the reports customize window, this need seems to be have been met.

Definteitely not! This request is for complex/compound searches. Depending on what you're searching for, you might be able to get what you want. If you want to search only current and former checking accounts for a certain tag, you can do that. But if you want to search those accounts for matching text in a memo field, you can't. If you want to search those accounts for transactions which do NOT have a specific tag, you can't. If you want to search an account for transactions over $500, you can't. If you want to find any old transactions between $1,000 and $1,500, you can't. Etc. The request is for searches which are exact matches, number ranges, or compound criteria — none of which is currently possible.
Nobody should have to justify giving the MacOS version parity with the Windows version. Having to vote for a feature that previously existed in Windows is bad form. I'm not talking about making huge improvements, just not forgetting/dropping features that loyal users were using and then finding out after dishing out money for upgrades that they were taken away.
@phil66 Nothing was “taken away”; many things just haven’t yet been created for the Mac version, which was rebuilt from the ground up last decade. And the purpose of Ideas here and voting for them is to help influence the priority ordering of feature development.
It would be great if the developers could create all the desired features in a snap, but they can’t; Quicken is complex software, and the Mac development team is pretty small — so it’s taking many years for them to work their way through all the feature requests.
It would be very helpful to have the ability to filter reports by amounts. Additionally, it would be great to have a report option that sets up three columns: one for positive amounts, one for negative amounts (debit/credit), and a running balance.
The filters in Quicken 2007 were outstanding, well-organized, and very intuitive.

Why can't we search by a range of amounts? ChapGPT thinks you can put a > in the search bar and find all amounts for a given account (or all accounts if you are in all transactions) and search. Sometimes AI isn't wrong. Please….
There is an existing Idea thread seeking a variety of "complex" searches beyond the current Search capabilities. Greater than, less than, range, or exact amount would be among the types of things I'd envision, as well as possibly compoiiunt searches (adding AND, OR and NOT capabilities). You might want to add your vote and comment in that thread, which has a status of "Under Consideration":
