Downloading from banks causes seemingly random Payees to "match" to amounts

With Quicken on Windows the payees would sometimes match to older transactions, but they'd never do what a nightmare it is on Quicken for Mac.  Almost every day I download transactions from USAA, US Bank, PMCU, and Barclays I get transactions that have payees that match some other random payee in my memorized list but not a transaction I manually entered with the correct payee and amount.  This is nightmarish.

@keith.and.meliss Although this is no help to you currently, I thought I'd just mention that the Quicken Mac product manager has said they are working on new functionality to give users control over renaming rules for Payees, a feature which has existed in Quicken Windows but not in Quicken Mac. We don't yet know exactly how this will work or when it will be released, but from the hints he has dropped, it seems likely to be forthcoming pretty soon -- so relief is on the way.

Can you please elaborate what is happening when you entering payees? Is it auto-populating from a previous entry?

AND they acknowledged that the current matching process is broken and does not work well for all users ...  :-\
