You are encountering one of Subscription Quicken's greatest annoyances. Each paid Quicken subscription gets only one Quicken ID (forget Intuit) per subscription.Your 2 family members can keep their data files secret from each other by password-protecting the files. So far so good. The trouble arises if the 2 users want to use Quicken's Mobile and/or Web-based services. Then, having only 1 Quicken ID, each user will be able to see the other's data, because the Quicken ID is the credential used online. If your users are willing to stay away from Quicken Mobile & Web, they can keep their data totally separate.

"My confusion remains in the function of downloading transactions from financial institutions. Would this be a conflict? "Into 2 different Q data files ... No problem at all. Most, if not all, of the SuperUsers have both their "Production" file and "Test" file, and in addition, I have a club that I download their info into a 3rd data file ... and they use the same bank as I do.

Thank you Rocket! I think you covered my concern. From what I see in using Quicken and what I saw in trying to set up family member #2 and from reading your answer I think you are 100% correct. My confusion remains in the function of downloading transactions from financial institutions. Would this be a conflict?0

OK that's great! By way of explanation, the trigger for this issue is the fact that family member #2 has a Chromebook. We decided the easiest way to use Q on the Chromebook was by using Q on the desktop via Chrome Remote Desktop from the Chromebook. In reality using the Chromebook in this way is like the dumb terminals of the 70's.0
