The modern Quicken Mac (now called Quicken 2020) can import your Quicken 2007 data, but it's otherwise completely separate from Quicken 2007. So you can use Quicken 2007 and Quicken 2020 simultaneously if you want, and doing work in parallel for a few weeks is actually a good way to ease into learning the new program and making sure you get all your accounts to agree between the old and the new.
But any data you enter into Quicken 2020 is only in that data file; it is not in your Quicken 2007 data file unless you enter it there. There is no way to move your Quicken 2020 data back to Quicken 2007 if you decide you don't want to continue with Quicken 2020.
For most people, there is a period of adjustment and learning after moving to Quicken 2020. It's not uncommon to not like some of the way the interface works, or to have some confusion figuring out where some things are in different places or work a little differently. So it's good to start out understanding it will take a little time to settle in. Most people find that once they're acclimated to Quicken 2020, it meets their needs; a few people run into program limitations that cause them problems sticking with Quicken 2020.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19937 -
There is no way to move your Quicken 2020 data back to Quicken 2007 if you decide you don't want to continue with Quicken 2020.Not entirely correct. You can export your data from QM2020 to QTMF format and import that data file into QM2007 (only applicable for non-investment data). (QTMF is simply a disguised QIF export). Once in QM2007, you can export the data you want as QIF and re-import that into QM2007.There may be some data massaging at each stage to get it right, so depending on the amount of data you are looking to move back, it may or may not be worth the effort. Recreating that data might be easier.
