Generally, Quicken Mac will simply read, convert and import Quicken Windows data files. I'm not familiar enough with Quicken Cash Manager to know if there any special limitations in converting from that to Quicken Mac Starter Edition.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19935

Also be aware that since you are using 2012, which implies that you have not been using download or online functionality, and you only occasionally purchase upgrades, the new subscription model requires that you ALWAYS maintain an active membership or your STARTER version will render your data read-only. The longest available memberships to date have been only 27 months (usually under promotion only). So keep that in mind as part of your cost analysis.
One way to avoid this read-only limitation is to purchase the Deluxe or higher versions. These versions do NOT make your data read-only when your membership expires.
That said, there is ANOTHER caveat...with ANY version that expires, Quicken will use up 25% of your screen to post reminder ads to renew. If you disagree with this business decision, you can add your VOTE to Quicken Inc should eliminate or at least minimize the LARGE Advertising space used when a subscription expires.

I have never been able to convert windows quicken files into Mac. Always had to start fresh which is really annoying.Quicken User since the DOS days...0

Many, many thousands of Quicken Windows users have made the conversion to Quicken Mac. Some have had very smooth file imports. Some have hit some bumps they were able to work out. Some found that some types of data doesn't make the transition from Windows to Mac (such as file attachments, or planner data). I'm sure there are a few folks who have been entirely unable to convert, but from everything I've seen here over the years, that's likely a very tiny minority.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19930
