Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community to post your issue, although I apologize that you haven't received a response.
If you are still experiencing this issue, I would start with uninstalling using the QcleanUI utility and then reinstalling the Quicken application.

well, it seems to have worked as I no longer get prompted to install an update. The process was a bit awkward but worked flawlessly. Thank you.1

The error is back and I am still unable to update Quicken. Anyone has a solution short of again removing and reinstalling the app. That did not help.0

Avcodec-53.dll is part of "Awesomium", which is modified Chrome version that Quicken is using to pull up web pages. It is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\.
Is suspect what is happening is your anti-virus software is preventing it from loaded/run from Quicken.
