Do you know if this can be done in Q for Windows? I am trying to merge 2 securities that are the same (these are not publicly traded so no symbol) I just made a mistake entering and left out a space in one of them. This sounds so simple but I don't see a "Merge security" button.

Are there only a few transactions for one of the securities?

If so, you should be able to simply edit the transactions for the one with the fewest transactions, correcting the name. Work from oldest to newest. If there are sales of the security, you may need to correct the tax lot assignments to match your broker's records.

Back up your data file first in case problems arise.

I suggest you replace the security used in the fewest transactions with the other security.  Then, you should be able to delete the security replaced and, if appropriate edit the remaining security's name.

Have you looked at the Security Actions that are available in your account?
In some Q products, there's a "Corporate Acquisition" action, that you could use for a 1:1 acquisition of one "name" by the other.
