Why Does Quicken 2020 Crash on Validation?

When I try to validate - or supervalidate - my file, the program crashes.

It runs for a few seconds, freezes, and then crashes. I have the latest update running on Windows 10.

Anyone out there have a solution?

    Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.

    I recommend that you create a copy of your data file by following the instructions provided below in an attempt to rebuild all of the internal lists and database tables.
    1. Go to File
    2. File Operations
    3. Copy...
    4. Leave the presets as is and click OK
    5. Wait for the copy procedure to complete
    6. Select New copy and click OK  

    Once the newly copied file opens, please, try validating and super validating again.

  • Anja, thanks for the response.

    Well. I tried to copy the file but when I clicked OK, the same thing happened. It started copying for a few seconds, then froze and crashed.

    So i'm guessing that the problem is the file ... which I can't validate.
  • Oops! Spoke to soon. I tried to copy again but when Microsoft warned me that Quicken was not responding, I opted for "wait for the process to respond" ... and waited. I did get a confirm that the file had copied and then ran the validate.
    It seems to have worked.
